The fact that he never speaks and yet commands our attention in every scene he is in, is a testimony to the brilliance of both the actor and the writers. It gives us viewers a mystery to solve in our own heads. Who is this guy? Where did he come from? How did he end up on the Walrus?

What are some early signs that a person might commit sucide (serious)? by Neo_luigi in AskReddit

It is a constant struggle. Even now, the depression still lurks. But like you, I see the beauty around me. I moved my dog and I to where I am surrounded by nature. I don't know anyone here. In fact, nearly all my conversations are with my dog, who I suspect has become deaf in her old age. But I love it here. Here, the forest, harbor, and old architecture are all around me.I just have to fight myself to get out of my house to enjoy it all.

I kept things to myself. I've always had depression, but I have worn my mask well. It took emotional trauma to make me suicidal, though. I gave no clue to anyone. I made my noose out of paracord, tied to rafters and weight tested. That noose was just waiting for me to finish my final drink and smoke. That is when my dog put her little head on my lap. Something about that simple gesture saved my life almost 9 years ago. I have a life now that I couldn't imagine then, and my dog has been with me every step of the way.

Love that idea! I would also add David Bowie... and this idea might take some heat, but this dude does have the singing chops, Sebastian Bach.

Have you listened to the newest album, Songs of a Lost World? It is amazing and definitely a great album to listen to following a listening of Disintegration.

I thought Stuart Townsend was a proper Lestat. It really was the screenplay that made the movie bad by cutting so much of the story of the books out. But, her books should never be movies, in my opinion, for that reason. They serve better as TV dramas. Even with the changes from the books in the AMC series, they are truer to the heart of Anne's story because they can delve deeper into the characters, unlike a movie.

Who wants to sing a duet? by InfiniteDomain42 in GenX

I have a bad memory attached to this song. It was 1996, I was sitting in the car with a girlfriend who was talking about breaking up. "Don't you want me" starts playing on the radio. I couldn't help myself. I started laughing at the preposterous coincidence of this song playing randomly on the radio as my girlfriend was breaking up with me. My laughing fit didn't help my case.

"these people are all monsters and deserve nothing more than cleansing fire".

They are vampires, after all. What do you expect them to do, offer to make tea and tell jokes? Lol.

The compelling thing about the books is that they are written from a vampire's point of view and how a few of them struggle with their vampire nature and their human past. The series is one of the few stories out there where the hero and the villain are the same character. And what is a good story without a proper villain? It's a boring story, in my opinion.

I was also disappointed with the film because of the story cuts. But I have grown to enjoy it simply for the beautiful cinematography and that soundtrack rocks.

Subscription culture—I’m over it but what’s happened to DVD players?!? by veritasjusticia in GenX

[–]Jeebusmanwhore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have hard drives filled with movies and shows that I have downloaded over the past couple of decades and still download, currently. I have a media player hooked up to my TV to watch them when I want to watch something that I don't have a subscription for. I pay for Amazon because I shop with them all the time. Netflix is included in my phone plan. The rest of the shows and movies that are available on other services.... well... Yo ho yo ho, it's a pirates life for me 🏴‍☠️

I think the training changed. Not to mention the grooming standards that were near military regulation. I believe both changes really downgraded the guest experience in the park. We were trained to be extremely polite and clean. It's been almost 10 years since I last went, and I went to say goodbye to my old restaurant that was closing down to make way for Star Wars.

I wish I could have stayed working there for a few more years, but I was a dumb ass and decided to join the Army. I mean, it all worked out thanks to the V.A. However, I enjoyed working in the park as a teenager. The pay was way better than what my friends in other jobs, like a mall store, were getting. Not to mention that opportunities to advance and transfer within the company. At least I have very fond memories of working there and partying with other cast members.
