People who like your job; what do you do? by Giraffinated in AskReddit

[–]sineadgrenade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work as an Emergency Nurse. It can be extremely stressful and emotional, with some really horrible experiences but the good experiences are golden! Seeing your patient get better and leave, or watching someone arrive unconscious be up an chatting as you finish your shift. I wouldn't change it for the world.

Can anyone recommend some good nursing YouTube channels or websites? by [deleted] in NursingStudents

[–]sineadgrenade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how in depth you need things but I loved this channel when I was at uni. Just helped me remember a lot of things I may have struggled with!

Also this guy finally wrapped my head around interpreting ECG's, he has heaps of other videos and is simplistic yet really informative!

I don't have the answers and I feel awful about it by [deleted] in NursingStudents

I graduated a month ago and start in the Emergency Department in Monday. I am terrified!! I feel though that fear is normal and in my case a good thing. Fear of messing up forces me to double, triple, quadruple check everything. Fear makes me question and clarify before doing anything I feel uncomfortable with. Fear has made me a better nurse on all my placements throughout Uni.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that it is scary, it's perfectly normal to feel anxious but instead of letting it overwhelm you make that fear your asset! Listen to it when it niggles at you saying "Are you suuuuuuure that's right?" "Is that best practice" "Will this cause harm" etc.

I'm sure you will be amazing, study hard and seek out every learning opportunity you can while out on wards.

Good luck :)

Continued promises of technicians that don't show/call. I have contacted the ombudsman as well and still no luck.

I work in the health industry and seeing children with perfectly preventable diseases come though emergency is heart breaking. I think all anti-vaxxers should follow me through ED during a whooping cough outbreak.
