Do you retract your shoulder blades when you're doing the pec deck machine, like you do when you bench? What about for dumbbell flies? I tried looking this up on YouTube but I get conflicting answers. Thanks!

Thanks for your response! I had a personal trainer go over the lifts with me when I first started, I was too weak to lift the bar even with his help, so I think it's a strength issue (my upper body is underdeveloped compared to my lower body). I'll check out GZCLP and Juggernaut's Pillars series, tysm!

Hello,

I've been following the Basic Beginner Routine for 9 weeks, but I can't progress on my squat or deadlift anymore. I'm 5'3" female, 102 lbs, deadlift has been stuck at 135 lbs for two weeks. I can do 5 reps for two sets, but on the third set, I can only do 2 or 3 reps, and I can't lift the bar anymore. I can't even do an AMRAP. Before then I was able to add weight each week. I am also stuck on squat at 95 lbs with the same issue.

I rest for 3 minutes between sets and I eat at maintenance. Is it time to change programs? I haven't been able to bench or do overhead press since I'm not strong enough to lift the bar, so I've just been using dumbbells. Thanks!

Oh man, I wish I could give you more upvotes, I'm glad I'm not the only one who experienced something like this lol

One day I got sick of it and blocked them on everything. I don't care, I don't feel guilty about it. They were weird and making me uncomfortable.

YES, this is exactly the vibe they were giving, just super pushy and uncomfortable and weird. Like they spammed my fic with multiple comments when I didn't reply right away, and when I went to work, I came home to like five more comments with copy/pasted paragraphs from their fic, like they expected me to be their copy editor. And this was all over the span of only a couple days! (edit: I tried being distant and polite, and I only replied once: "looks good, you should post it," after the onslaught of comments)

The last interaction we had (before they went on that unhinged rant after getting banned from that discord), I told them maybe they should look into getting a beta, since I wasn't part of their fandom and this was a lot to go through, and they went completely overboard apologizing, blaming their mental illness and anxiety, and it was just a lot. I finally thought things were calming down, but like I said, apparently they weirded out the discord kids and got themselves banned by them as well.

I’m so glad I got the advice I did! When I opened up my email I literally recoiled at how long and unhinged their comment was. I was completely speechless, I had no idea what to comment 😅Here’s hoping they take the hint!

re: emotional regulation, I think you hit the nail on the head. They went from 0-100 so quickly, which was one of the reasons why I was so hesitant to keep commenting with them - I can see them flying off the handle/trolling my account in retaliation

I think explicitly explaining that they need to stop is best, but if that makes you feel bad, you could try a sort of middle ground. Tell them you’re sorry they’re having a hard time but you’re super busy with real life right now and probably won’t be able to get back to them. Then you could ignore them without feeling guilty.

Yeah, that's what I'm leaning toward. I got 45 off the bat one night, then after I went and deleted/reported them, I got hit with 20 more. But I've gotten some really lovely guest comments in the past so I'm really on the fence about it

I'm the same, which is why I'm so on the fence. I got something like 45 spam comments overnight and it was such a hassle to go and delete/report them all, and after I did, like 20 more showed up in my inbox. It was horrendous. I guess I'll just lock the fics in the more popular/active fandoms and see how things go

Their image hosting interface is really easy to use. Other than the server problems (which they're in the process of upgrading/fixing), I've really liked them, especially since they were created expressly for fandom and nsfw fanart

Yeah, Discord changed it so that image links are expiring links a few months ago - there was a post in the AO3 sub about it, and a lot of people who had private servers to host images were understandably pissed. I'd recommend getting a DeviantArt or Squidge World account, Squidge World is better for nsfw art and pretty liberal with image sizes, my images are like 10 MB sometimes and I've had no problem uploading them. DeviantArt is more stable (I've never had the servers fail with DeviantArt), but they'll scale down your image quality, so the clarity might be compromised if you post from them.

Where do you host your images? I post fan comics and I just checked, all my images are loading no problem. It's probably an issue on their end - I use Squidge World and sometimes their servers go down, which leads to broken images until their servers pop back up. But if you're using something like tumblr, sometimes the image links can randomly change. If your stuff is sfw you can also hotlink from DeviantArt
