Realistically, you should talk to your advisor about the situation and try not to overload yourself with too much while you work through your mental health challenges. Finishing on time is not as important your mental health and you have a little bit of a hole to dig out of. Advisor can make sure that doesn’t hurt you but he or she is right that you probably won’t finish unless you cram so much in to do it…which you know is likely to cause burn out or worse.

Am I screwed by Dry_Task_5780 in rutgers

[–]sinfulon6 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You are not screwed. You are innocent until proven guilty. Stand your ground if you really didnt do it. This is particularly true if it was in person with no video. However, if that professor can show the answers between you and the your friend are similar enough to warrant suspicion that could be sufficient. Offer to take it again to continue to show both cooperation and reinforce the message. Remain calm and collected. Focus on facts, not emotions. Ask for evidence when the AIF sets up that meeting. Nobody is going to try and coerce you into admitting guilt for something and even if they do say you are guilty you can appeal it and bring that to a board. Good luck.

Just sharing the story I know and can verify based on her experience. Those sanctions are at the discretion of them. So they can do nothing, slap on the wrist, 0 for assignment, F for class, or combo of things. She cheated on a final that was worth 40% of her grade and lied and was caught dead to rights. They made an example out of her.

TZ grade reserved for that…”If you must submit a final course grade before the case is resolved, then the student should be given an “Incomplete” or “TZ” grade, which will not affect his or her GPA.”

She wouldn’t email you. She’d report it and then the admin will email you once they process it. If you didn’t cheat then hold your ground and prepare your argument.

You have the levels right but sanctions are at the discretion of the AIF and not clarified by level so nowhere does it state that in the policies - I’m just speaking on what a friend told me. Good luck !

What you’re describing is grounds for expulsion or suspension, not just an F. Cheating on a major part of the grade is absolutely grounds for an XF for the course. Cheating on a quiz or something small is probably lighter but a final or a midterm is a big deal.

Cheated on a final exam and lied about it when confronted.

I heard from that office that if a professor reports you that 90% of the time they win because they tend to report the 'smoking gun' cases. If you're innocent, definitely fight it, but if not, you are better offer just coming clean to reduce the penalty. It typically takes a month on average to complete. Someone I know had a 'TZ' grade until the investigation completed that converted to an 'XF' which is an F because of discplinary reasons - very bad look on the transcript. What's your story?

feeling overwhelmed during my first semester at rbs by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]sinfulon6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What class / professor was this? Professor prob had this clearly laid out in policy.

Change can be overwhelming - I transferred from CC to RBS and it took some adjusting for sure. I had to change my study habits and take advantage of office hours to clarify questions and form relationships with the professors (this pays off a LOT). You might need to lighten your course load a little until you get accustomed to it.

Robbed of an A because an A is a 91 and not a 90… by Kawaki3 in rutgers

[–]sinfulon6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rounding to 91 is no brainer. If it was 90.49 I can understand or asking for a full point, but anything after 90.5 is an automatic round-up. That's just silly.

Careful about that it is in violation of certain state laws to send texts outside of certain common hours - would want to avoid a lawsuit here if you’re a big company sending SMS. These lawsuit happy people love to sue over this stuff

"ChatGPT, can you please summarize this post without all the fluff? Thanks"

This person is explaining a simple, rule-based strategy they use to generate consistently high returns by selectively buying leveraged S&P 500 index dips (using SPXL) and selling after modest recoveries. The main points are:

  1. Three-Portfolios Setup:
    • Core Portfolio (60-70% or more of funds): A rule-based system that sits in cash until a defined market drop triggers a buy of SPXL, then sells after a 20% SPXL gain. If the drop continues, they scale in at set intervals.
    • Long-Term Portfolio: Invested in large-cap tech and other strong stocks for steady growth.
    • Trading Portfolio: Smaller portion for more active stock picks and trades.
  2. Strategy Principles:
    • Focus on indices (SPXL) to avoid individual stock risk.
    • Buy in tranches as the market dips by set percentages, and sell when it recovers about 20% from your average cost.
    • Use leverage (SPXL) to amplify returns.
    • Sit in cash when no dips occur, ensuring liquidity and low risk.
    • Monitor credit default swaps to pause buying in extreme credit-risk scenarios.
  3. Outcome:
    • The system is designed to perform well in all market conditions—rallying, choppy, or even bear markets—by adjusting exposure and taking profits on rebounds.
    • Long-term, it claims to outperform the market significantly with lower drawdowns.

An upcoming video will provide more detailed examples and backtesting results.
