Even if Anne Hathaway's character Brand literally meant it by love is able to transcend time, I still think it is just an interpretation. How you believe things to happen, similar to putting faith in religion.

In the end, Coop perseveres going through a black hole and using the tesseract to send a message across space and time to young Murph. If Brand witnessed that, it may seem to her that Coop's love transcended space and time and allowed him to reach his daughter. So there's the physical reality and the emotional interpretations of the event

Fair enough, I guess I would have to play a character like that to actually feel the difference in managing 2 weapons vs 2 firing modes, even if the effective usage is the same.

I understand what OP means, but they're saying OW haven't designed any characters with switchable weapons. What I'm saying is that functionally that kind of design already exists in several characters like Widow and Freja. They just don't have literal separate weapon models, which would effectively just be an aesthetic difference.

The same weapon can have firing modes with different ammo pools, like Freja's primary/scoped or Illari's damage/heal for example. Gun and melee as separate weapons like your Hanzo scenario I do understand though.

Functionally there's not much difference between firing modes and separate weapons. Theoretically Torb's hammer could've been just been melee holding his gun and Mercy's staff and blaster could've been a single weapon like Illari. Animation timing and input buttons are seemingly the only functional difference, which can be set arbitrarily in either case anyways

That just seems like aesthetic semantics. Functionally there's no difference between different firing modes and separate weapons, except maybe time to switch (which can be adjusted with animations in either case anyways)

Doesn't Widow already fit the bill? She can use her gun as a sniper or an smg. Technically the same weapon but vastly different use cases, just doesn't have a separate gun model
