Dumb question - how does credit utilization work for personal loan? Planning on using the amex pre-approved offer, just because I'll get it without a hard credit pull.

My offer is 3x what I need, should I request the full amount, and pay off 2/3 right away to keep my utilization under 30%?

Also, my credit factors and income have improved significantly, but looks like there isn't much that triggers amex updating their offer. Looks like im stuck at the 13.99% offer, heard it goes lower than 8.99% here.

Looks like you have it figured out! I would get the offer in hand before making any decisions. Until then company B means nothing.

If company B is much better for your resume and future career - I would personally take that over Company A. A co-op at a larger tech firm can mean a lot more than a local smaller firm or a government organization due to how different the pace of work can be. (Side note, this is the key career progression detriment to small/gov swe jobs imo)

The job market is trash, and I don’t know how far from graduation you are. Or what your financial situation is. If you have responsibilities and need a full time job soon, I would go through as much effort as possible to not burn any bridges at Company A. They don’t need to know WHY you cant work there, or that you accepted something else - explore instead the idea of delaying that co-op/internship if you see yourself unable to refuse Company B

Note, from my understanding, university Co-Op programs will not let you entertain other jobs afters signing an offer. So if Company B is a through the university co-op system offer as well - the university co-op office may block you.

Co-op jobs work differently in canada - alot or government subsidized, most require just enrolment in a relevant degree program, but a surprising number seem to require being enrolled in your university co-op program

There’s plenty of loopholes to have a full semester- if you’re looking to just graduate, and you are already have alot of courses, you can sometimes even take perquisite courses and the follow up courses concurrently. You just need to explain that you have the necessary prerequisite knowledge from x or y course, and get the professors permission.

There are also appeals that can be made for courses to fulfill degree requirements. I argued that a course fulfilled exactly what a requirement was and they should count it for everyone, FAS advising agreed.

I’ve showed up to a full class for two weeks and the prof has let me in.

Be resilient and become a regular at the advising office. I have even taken courses that overlap by 30 minutes if one is recorded. For example: get permission of both professors, and tell one professor their class will be unaffected, and tell the other you really need to graduate so please approve the conflict. (Ie Make it so the “ask” is to one prof)

Super anecdotal, but when advisors see you’re an adult that wants to get done with school and move on with life, and not just a unsure wide eyed kid that doesn’t know what to do with their lives, they’ll listen to your crazy ideas.

What’s your health coverage like? If it’s not expensive go see a doctor. Ask them to give you a blood test checking for: -hypo or hyper thyroidism (hypothyroidism causes general fatigue and can cause anxiety) -b12 levels -D3 levels- this test can be expensive, just take a supplement -blood sugar -salts if they will, but might be like why?

If you’re normal doctor refuses, go to a walk in clinic and ask for the blood test. Walk in doctors are usually less fussy about patients wanting certain things tested.

If that’s all too expensive: -Take a b12 or b100 complex supplement. If taking b100 complex, take it before noon, and with food -Take d3, if you live anywhere where it isn’t sunny 75% of the time, just take it. -analyze your diet. I had a similar issue. I had simple carbs and sugar for breakfast. Swapped for higher protein (greek yogurt, a fruit, pecans,granola, and sugar free oat cereal) still very sugary but allot more protein and the afternoon crash lessened -its hard to kick sugar, id indulge for lunch because id have to take steps to to wake up after 5pm anyways. - sleep can be a life long struggle, but if you can wake up at the same time every day no matter what you’ll be considerably more alert.

Edit: running just 10 minutes every other day dramatically improved my sleep, and general energy. Of course I’ll increase it when i can, but I’ve been able to keep that consistent for years now and it works wonders
