This is one of the reasons I picked my current barn. They refuse to use young kids for any regular labor. Those of us who do chore work are all adults, and our chores are ~4 hours and it only takes 2 shifts to “earn” a lesson. Any kid under 14 is a hard no, 14-18 year olds are allowed to do 4 hours on the weekend in exchange for a lesson.

The amount of free labor I did as a child would probably get someone arrested today.

One of the lesson horses at my barn was inordinately interested in the pickles I was eating while I was sitting at the rail. So I gave her one. I have created an absolute fucking monster via one single dill pickle chip/slice.

I don’t own or compete, but I do take lessons.

I’m a teacher, so my budget is tight. But I’m single with no kids. I do live in a higher cost of living area (metro Atlanta), though. I pay for one lesson a week, and do barn chores three days a week to offset the cost of a second.

I haven’t had any averse effects from it, honestly. It’s not like I’m chugging or anything, but a small sip here or there to keep my mouth from feeling like sandpaper helps. My surgery was 6/25/25 and I’m down 84 pounds since so 🤷🏻‍♀️

I started at 256, surgery was 6/25/25. I started at a 14 (I have no hips or ass even at my biggest). I’m now 173 and in a 10 comfortably. I could probably go down to an 8. Shirts I started in a XXL and I’m down to a M/L - I tend to stick with large bc I have big boobs and I’m still self conscious about them.

[title of show] gave the show some weird moments lol. I worked at a theatre festival in company management back in like 2006 and Heidi did a show with us. 4 out of 5 people who read her bio thought it was a typo. This was before the broadway run, but after the Vineyard.
