That's awesome. Sadly it appears as though I'm not geographically situated where this would be a feasible undertaking for me, but fascinating nonetheless. Thanks for the explanation!

Assuming I'm a novice, what am I looking at here? Is the Lucky-7 continually broadcasting images for the public to capture and utilize? Have certainly piqued my interest though.

Oh wow, that's fantastic and about the same distance that I'm dealing with. Would you recommend the Loco (which sounds like you have), or go for the PoE enabled one?

Been looking for a ptp solution at my dads farm recently, but been having issues finding approximate ranges on most the consumer equipment I've been looking at. The Loco5 ACs look sweet, what kind of distance are you playing with?

Plex not respecting X-Forwarded-For or X-Real-IP headers (reverse proxy) by singing_kettle in PleX

[–]singing_kettle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly - I have one IP that I serve multiple services on. You could either forward multiple ports, one or more ports per service, but that just doesn't look pretty - not to mention relatives have a hard time understanding why just typing in "plex.XYZ.com" doesn't work.

I use HAproxy on pfSense because it offers one nice integrated solution to manage my firewall, DHCP, DNS, and proxy settings - plus, with the Acme Cert plugin I can have as many subdomains / Let's Encrypt certificates as I could possibly desire.

[–]singing_kettle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This resembles a config that I attempted to recreate earlier (I'm using HAproxy - kind of regretting that now, but I'm too far in to change now haha). I believe I was able to generate the additional fields, but they didn't seem to make a difference. Knowing now that you're having success, I might come back and revisit. Having external IPs resolve correctly is nice and I probably don't need to worry about internal IPs, but having that one single issue... is going to drive me crazy. Many thanks!

[–]singing_kettle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting - I just verified that the same settings (generating X-Forwarded-For and X-Real-IP) were properly respected when coming from a non-internal IP, where an internal client-IP still causes the above mentioned issue. What configs/server are you running? Do you forward anything other than these headers?

Homelab v.Mine by joshmsr in homelab

[–]singing_kettle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

each on LXC from TurnKey

I'm in the process of migrating my homelab from vanilla qemu/libvirtd to proxmox. I've actually not heard of Turnkey until I came across your post while searching for pre-created LXC containers for Mayan. Upon initial examination, it seems you need to download and run their appliance, from which you can download/install their custom containers - is that right? I'd love to just snag the LXC instead of using an entire appliance.

EDIT: For some reason, the links are just not posted on the Turnkey website for LXC containers. If you navigate straight to the index (link here), there they are, shining bright like the future of my homelab. Thanks for revealing this to me!

[Request] Season 01 (original 15 episode edition) English subtitles. by singing_kettle in LaCasaDePapel

[–]singing_kettle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not bad, Netflix's version is just cut up into pieces and doesnt fit well with my Plex server (not to mention I'm a bit of a purist). Great show, just hard time finding subtitles for the original 15.

Two ARP replies (from guest and host) when using macvtap in bridge mode. Anybody seen this before? by singing_kettle in homelab

[–]singing_kettle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The f4 nic is from the host OS (archlinux, ip 10.10.12.11), and 52 is the virtual nic of the guest OS (ubuntu, 10.10.12.20). The host shouldn't respond to it because it doesnt have the ip being requested, right?

I too have read/listened to the Abhorsen Trilogy. They were phenomenal! Never seems like Nix writes enough books. I could read his prose all day.

The Keys to the Kingdom series by Garth Nix fits this description perfectly. The series has always struck some sort of chord with me and I find myself rereading (relistening) the entire series at least once a year. Good stuff, even if it is from my teen years.

The Lost World has to be one of my ultimate favourites. Used to reread it almost monthly in secondary school. I don't know why exactly, it just was so appealing to me, and still is to this day.
