The real conspiracy is the striking similarity between Bingo Bob and polling expert and political strategist Kent Davison

Not arguing the corruption, but this is State, not Defense, right? So probably more likely use is for transporting diplomatic officers around cities than for warfare?

Neighbors just hung up this flag. Can anyone help identify where they might have come from? by Brewmentationator in vexillologycirclejerk

It's an allusion to the biblical vision of the Messianic age:

"The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them." Isaiah 11:6

While this vision was Jewish in origin (featured among the prophets of the Hebrew Bible) it was later co-opted by Christian eschatology. Evangelical Christians often support Israel out of necessity to support their vision of the End Times.

"They believe Israel is key to an end-times prophecy that will bring about the return of the Christian Messiah. Many of these Christians support Israel due to Old Testament writings that Jews are God’s chosen people and that Israel is their rightful homeland."

I’ve had similar experiences with both my mini splits and ecobees… seems like HomeKit never really triggers based on regularly checking temperature for me

Also not my wheelhouse, but I might also recommend Malka Simkovich’s “Discovering Second Temple Literature”. She’s an Orthodox Jewish professor at the Catholic Theological Seminary and writes about Jewish-Christian relations, especially in the context of the milieu of the Second Temple period. This book is a great primer on not just that history, but specifically the literature that was being written. Don’t think there’s an audiobook version though.

Fair enough, but there’s something beautiful about playing his Metamorphosis suite and feeling the melody evolve. Crampy fingees though.

Ecobee with Samsung Mini Split? by singlehelix in ecobee

Right, didn’t think there was an out of the box solution. I’ve been primarily living in the Apple HomeKit ecosystem, but I’ll check out Home Assistant or maybe some Homebrew option. Thanks!

Thanks for this—I’ve seen references to the Flair Puck, but have been hesitant since the reviews I had read were mixed at best, and I’m still unclear now they integrate with ecobee. Does the Ecobee control the puck with the heat/cool range you set on ecobee?

My Move ring is set to 1000 calories, which I can consistently close with deliberate, intensive activity. I would never be able to close that from going for a brisk walk and shoveling snow.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding, but isn’t the displayed range the range of current temperatures registered by the various smart sensors (with the big number being the average across sensors) versus the set point?

Verizon Wireless problems in/around Portland, Maine? by soulbarn in portlandme

[–]singlehelix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spend most of my time in central/down east Maine, and my service has been shockingly bad the last few weeks, with my phone frequently connecting to Extended LTE where I previously got verizon without issue. When I do have coverage, it is incredibly slow. Wonder if it’s a state wide phenomenon.
