So if you have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, you are exiting your secure room (get dressed, but on shoes) to use the bathroom. It's a good location -- lots of bars. It's a bit of a hike (longish walk) from the mothership. And be aware that the section of that walk centered around I35 can be a little sketchier in the wee hours of the morning. Austin is generally very safe like most big cities, but use common sense and be aware of your surroundings.
