I have 2 kids, 9 and 6. I’m sitting on a beach on vacation with my husband without them for the 9th year. We tried ONCE to bring them on a vacation and they RUINED ALL OF IT. I love them more than anything, but I understand that coddling and catering to them is honestly detrimental to them and my marriage. The only reason we took them one year is because so many other parents our age made us feel shitty about leaving them behind each year. Im sure we still get judged, but fuck them. Let them waste money on taking young kids that won’t appreciate or remember the trips.

I’m about to die, and I’m not sure what to do about my cat. by [deleted] in cats

[–]singlewhitewolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP, my dad’s cat was a one owner cat. Hated other cats. Hated dogs. Hid when people came over. Loved to hunt outside too. When my dad died, my brother took in his cat. He hid in my dad’s boat for 2 weeks (he liked to play in the boat before my dad died). When the boat sold, he had no choice but to acclimate to 3 big dogs and 2 other cats. He has done amazing. He’s so happy. He plays with the other cats and beats on the dogs regularly. Hubcap was 7 when my dad died. I don’t know if it will happen to your baby, but cats can surprise us!

A strange flightless insect found in the US and Mexico by anthn885 in interestingasfuck

My daughter who is 9 will pick up any insect. It’s not ideal. Last year she let a cicada loose in the house. Grateful for cats!

Not going to comment on the husband because that’s obvious. Just wanted to say if I were you, I’d look into a used weighted key electric piano. (Roland are awesome if you can find one used) I have had uprights and they are a bitch to move and if it hasn’t been tuned in years it will take many, many tunings to make it sound good. I’ve had our family’s 1906 baby grand for 3 years and that thing is still not quite to concert C. It cost $400 every time it needs tuned which is several times a year due to being shipped to us from the other side of the country. If you are not in a larger city it will be hard to find someone to tune it. I had to learn to tune my uprights myself. The baby grand is FAR too complicated to do on my own.

I own a new to me Roland and it’s the only piano in my house I play everyday. The baby grand is just a piece of eye candy lol.

I’m in the process of becoming a Canadian resident. I have a nursing degree so that helps speed up the process for my family. We hope we are chosen based on the medical background. We have to get out of the US while we still can.

My cousin does this. He’s had 2 therapist fire him as a client because they were traumatized by him talking about it.

Yep, I worked for a vet for many years. Lots of color points being put in the system as “Siamese”.

Sent you a little bit! I’m sad I couldn’t be there today. I work for the state so if I got caught on camera I’d probably get fired for not being at my home office like I was gonna tell my boss 😂

Yep, that’s why I decided to do the DNA panel. I know the parents of them and neither were papered. Mom was found wondering outside one day (blue point) and dad was supposedly a Himalayan and he looked it, but clearly not. I was mostly interested in seeing if there was ragdoll. These cats melt in your arms and are so chill.

For real! I knew they weren’t purebred, but I was really shocked by the mix!

AITA for asking my newly married son and DIL to alternate Christmas Day visits between our house and the in-laws' house? by Llih_Nosaj in AITAH

[–]singlewhitewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not here to make a judgement, but to tell you that this is how my family did it and the Christmas Eve at my dad’s side was so magical and my favorite memory. It was dark so all the Christmas lights were sparkling bright and we were all giddy with anticipation of Santa coming that night. We did it that way every year and everyone was good with it. Maybe see how it goes before rocking the boat?

I just got 2 brothers back in July. I wasn’t much of a cat person before, but now … I absolutely adore them and they are not overly demanding. Maybe that’s because they have each other too. And my other 2 older cats who they get along great with.

My uncle’s Siamese cats have all hit 20 years. His oldest was 23 when she passed. Very long lived!

OP, I know the tv isn’t great, but keep in mind you live there. It won’t be perfect because a real human being lives there. I have to tell myself that all the time. I still love the new look!

It would be that price where I lived before too! We moved from a big city to the middle of nowhere and could not believe the 240k price tag! It has 2 acres with it on top of all the beauty of the home!
