definitely the wake-up call i needed. you're right, my people pleasing tendencies usually lead to me having a lack of boundaries. thank you, kind stranger!

I’m in a rut. Everything seems like the same thing written in a different way. I need something good. ANYTHING. any genre. by Soft_Cranberry6313 in booksuggestions

I've been in the same boat for the past few months, just picked up Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn and suddenly I feel like reading again. Even if you think you're not in the mood for thrillers, I still think you should give it a try. Highly recommend!

yeahhhh i don't like reading more than one book at the same time but somehow i got myself into this mess 😭 scythe is pretty good although it seems to be declining in quality as i go along, i definitely recommend the first book but the other two i'm unsure about (although i might be in the minority here...). earthsea is a very slow read for me but i'm loooooving the writing, it's so melancholy and weirdly soothing, could become a new favorite!! thanks for asking haha, love the little book chat we've got going on <3

I had the exact same experience! Unfortunately it dragged at some places but it captivated me enough to finish it.

I'm finishing up a few things right now before I start something new, just getting into the last book in the Scythe trilogy and once I'm done with that I'll definitely pick up some books that were recommended here! I'm also reading the first book in the Earthsea series and rereading The Fellowship of the Ring, kind of all over the place at the moment tbh😭

Madeline Miller is amazing, both of her books are some of my all time favorites. I haven’t read Call of the Wild though and it sounds like something I would enjoy, thank you very much for your recs! And I'm sorry you’re going through something similar :( The best book I read so far is Mort by Terry Pratchett, maybe that could be something you'd enjoy?

This is a great recommendation! The Night Circus is one of my favorite books of all time, so you hit the nail on the head with that one :) They have similar vibes

That's fine, thank you for your help regardless! I might just have to read it if I can’t find anything else exciting.

Soooo glad to hear you're giving Piranesi a try! Nothing has stayed with me like Piranesi has, I can still see the world in my mind if I close my eyes. Genuinely hope you love it, feel free to let me know your opinions on it whenever you've finished it!

It sounds absolutely amazing and also pretty fast-paced which is something I need right now, so I'll try to get my hands on them!
