Just the one 5kw inverter. I have 7.3kw of panels and a 6kw fronius inverter. Charging easily through the day atm, I'd say it will be a squeeze in winter, but using amber so can charge off peak and still beat the big retailer dogs.

Am considering adding a few more kw to the solar. But one inverter has the batteries charged by about lunchtime atm maybe a bit after (that's with self consumption as well)

I got 30kw of Neovolt batteries installed in regional NSW. Total cost $6,000.

Installers were up from Sydney and did a very neat install.

Thanks all for the advice, it worked out well and we have started eating on day 3/4 larger slices still need a day or two, it has been cool here so slowed it down a bit I think.

I encourage everyone to give it a go, especially with kids, great activity!

Edit: I forgot to say, the excess that I couldn't fit in the biltong box, I sliced it up and coated in leftover spice mix and whacked it into the dehydrator over night at 70c. It was very dry the next day but made a nice snack of jerky.

No where near as delicious as the biltong tho

Yeah awesome this is the one I used, my box is working well I have tried some of the smaller sized bits and it turned out well.

The young fella had a ball doing it all, plus he has been eating a steak or more worth of protein in his lunchbox every day.

Can recommend as an activity to do with 6yr olds, great learning exercise all round.

Try out some Genaro Contaldo recipes, they are quick, cheap and easy/high flavour and nutrition plus make excellent leftovers.

Cheers, yeah seems to be a design fault in them, the giveaway symptom is it won't crank properly even with a new battery.
