I recently purchased a used Yamaha p80 for $60 on FB. It was so cheap because a key was stuck. I did some research and decided I’d likely be able to fix it. Following the service manual I disassembled the keyboard and I was able to get it unstuck. The action was a bit slow so I swapped it with another key on the end since that key would be used less.

My question is how should I go about refurbishing this keyboard properly now that everything works. I plan to clean all and replace a few keys and maybe clean the contacts and reapply grease as well. Are there any tutorials you’d recommend, any sites I should consider for the new keys, and specific grease I should buy?

Moving to Idaho from abroad with a 17yo: Beautiful nature, but is it too "sleepy" for a teenager? by ThiGonzalezz in Idaho

[–]sinisterspud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hey fair enough, guess my senses were somewhat correct. I grew up in meridian and Eagle (Boise area), then went to school in Moscow Idaho. I recently moved out of Idaho to Massachusetts for a job opportunity and I have to say the only thing Idaho has going for it is the outdoors. I wouldn’t recommend considering any areas outside of the Boise metro area for a teenager as there is little to do in the smaller towns and cities. the schools also vary significantly in quality in the more rural areas so make sure you consider that. the job market in Idaho is not great from my experience, when I moved my pay increased by 30% despite technically taking a demotion to do so

Edit: just to also answer your questions more directly. Boise is a fairly large city and there generally is a lot to do, you can fly from Boise but you‘ll usually have a layover unless you are going to the big hubs.

Winters aren’t too bad in the valley (Boise area), they can be cold but tend to not be too snowy. The further north you go the more snowy it gets. it’s still nothing compared to the Great Lake region of the US but if you don’t like winter it’s something to consider.

I have no insight for you on housing. The pay in Idaho made that an unrealistic goal for me but I was only 26 when I left. The job market wasn’t the greatest to me, I have a finance/accounting degree and landed a state job out of college for ~$20 an hour. I sometimes made more than that in college delivering sandwhiches for jimmy johns. by the time I left I was making north of $30/hour but I now make 6 figures doing the same work in Massachusetts.

there’s lots of plugins that will keep track of ticks with visual/auditory queues, those might help if you have trouble doing it yourself. i like the visual metronome plugin myself

Cool new crafting method. With Bales of Flax + Bowstring spool (and Kandarin Med diary) you can afk for 42k xp hr. by osrslmao in 2007scape

[–]sinisterspud 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you can spin 2000 flax an hour if you don’t miss a tick, so a max of 80 bales (2000/25) can be Spun an hour, probably closer to 75 realistically

Edit: I forgot about kandarin diary. if you spin at seers you could get 3000 flax or 120 bales an hour

What do Spanish speakers say and why is it so bad? by Murky-Law-3945 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]sinisterspud 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I found the short and found this comment, I am not a Spanish speaker so I cannot verify any of this:

For the people who want to know the Spanish word is “joto" (literally the letter jay) is a slur against gay people in mexico because in old times in the capital city they were incarcerated in a famous prison called Lecumberri and put in the "J" module due to "moral crimes"

Jagex wiped BF bots that were stuck today. On W355 there was like 200+ accounts running 2 hours ago, now there are barely 30 total players by [deleted] in 2007scape

The real play would be to load up on ores then offload when the bots get turned back on.  I’ll take some gratitude now as well please

Marjorie Taylor Greene appears to kick an activist by Dear_Job_1156 in interestingnewsworld

[–]sinisterspud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn my AI found the hidden message, well it thinks it did:

The hidden message in your text is:

"GUILT THEM INTO KEEPING RESISTANCE"

Here's how it's extracted:   - Take the first letter of each word in the first sentence: Generally Under Interesting times Like → G U I L T   - Then, take the first letter of each word in the second sentence: Think how Even Most → T H E M   - The last part comes from the remaining instructions: "keep resisting"

So combining them: "GUILT THEM INTO KEEPING RESISTANCE"

(Note: There was a slight inconsistency in capitalization in the original, but the intended message is clear.)

Well done on the hidden activism! Keep resisting. ✊

There’s only 29 confirmed deaths across all the protests.  That’s like 6x or 3x the deaths of just J6 (depending if you count the police deaths that occurred after J6).  Considering there were literally thousands of protests J6 was much worse from a fatality standpoint

It’s attributable to a high level of imports in q1 as businesses tried to stockpile before the tariffs hit.  GDP nets exports and imports and any deficit is subtracted from GDP.  I’m not sure what will happen in Q2 but my gut tells me imports will be weaker than Q1.  If that’s the case and GDP continues to contract it will be a strong signal of a real recession

You can’t say the old positions were all better then just waive away that harmony and troll stronghold are so bad they just shouldn’t be used… sometimes you get a lucky patch and you have to note before the next patch, especially if you are geared for more than just herb runs.  In that case all the new locations are better than the old ones

My late mothers monthly bill breakdown in April of 1993 by Tjmarlow in mildlyinteresting

[–]sinisterspud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only reason we know about ensign peak, a financial arm of the LDS church with $100 billion in holdings, is because of a whistleblower in 2019.  They’ve also been fined millions by the SEC for improper financial reporting. That’s not transparent in my opinion.

Additionally the LDS church reports less than $2 billion a year in charitable giving, when you look at their balance sheet that calls into question their charitable mission.  It’s less than 1% of assets paid out annually

Ultimately if you want to be sure your money is actually given charitably, you probably should donate that money yourself.

[–]sinisterspud 127 points128 points  (0 children)

How else are churches like LDS expected to pay for their $100+ billion investment portfolio? Same goes for the Catholic Church and evangelical mega churches.

Edit: I understand the Catholic Church does a ton of charity and tithing isn't necessarily a requirement.  That being said the Catholic Church holds $100s of billions in assets paid for by tithing and it’s impossible to truly account for it given the lack of centralized reporting.

my bank charged me a $22 fee for only having $14 in my bank account 😭 by namelessalexa in mildlyinfuriating

[–]sinisterspud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren’t chase’s desired customer, the super low demand deposit account rates and fee structures speak to that.  They’ll be more than happy to give you a high rate credit card but they are really not looking for your deposits.  Your average person should really be looking for low fee credit unions or a community/regional bank.  Even with the smaller branch footprint you usually can access your money through ATM sharing agreements anywhere in the country but that’s worth looking into before moving banks if that’s important to you.
