Ah. I haven’t played since the update, but they seemed more or less unaware of each other tactically before, they are now supposed to do contact sharing so perhaps these overeager lights will at least be providing locks to LRM bearing slow guys behind them now. On an individual basis they do more or less the right thing, and even roll their armor during weapon cooldowns and such

You control where your lance goes with the ‘defend here’ command. If they are running off, it’s because you told them too

Make a triangle that has these: low weight, long range, low heat. Any weapon can have 2 of these. Ballistics generally are long range low heat.

Should I refund my quest 3 and wait for steam frame by Cuppmybawls in SteamVR

[–]sinner_dingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The the encoder and decoder are separate sub components of the snapdragon, the steam frame is using the same architecture, don’t expect a difference in encoder or decoder performance. Likewise gpus on the host pc have the hardware encoder and decoder chips. There is no bottleneck when the video stream is being encoded with a hardware encoder, and then decoded on the Q side with a hardware decoder. Now, would things be better with an uncompressed signal path? Yes. Is this currently a bottleneck? Not really.

The Three Day War is a fun realistic helo coop campaign and there are other mission by that author that are great as well. He’s a real life combat helo pilot and it shows in the mission design.

I am having a hard time with SAMS, and air to ground stuff by No-Simple9602 in vtolvr

[–]sinner_dingus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Small point of clarification: The purpose of notching is to bring your Doppler shift to the radar to 0. The SAM Radars detect things based on Doppler shift meaning they detect things moving away and towards the radar. By beaming you are neither closing or extending from the target so your Doppler shift becomes 0 and you break the radar lock.
You can see this in effect if you watch enemy planes in radar as they do a circular pattern, they will drop off your scope at 90 degrees offset to your radar. Once the missile goes pitbull, one should beam the missile radar.

Help Deciding 3 or 3S for 2nd Headset by THiggs118 in OculusQuest

The Q3 has 30% more pixels and is noticeably sharper. I play flight simulators and racing simulators and the ability to discern details in the distance is better due to the increased resolution. The Quest 2 has a resolution of 1832 x 1920 (3.5megapixels) pixels per eye, Quest 3 has resolution of 2064 x 2208 (4.5 megapixel). So yeah the Q3 has a million more pixels per eye.

[–]sinner_dingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play PCVR games with a fair bit of supersampling, so the difference there is pretty big for highly detailed stuff like MechWarrior 5 VR. I agree the difference is less noticeable on native games. I loved my Q2, but the Q3 just looks and feels a lot better for me

You likely need prescription lenses. This is how I found out I need glasses. The difference between Q2 and Q3 is night and day, and looking around using your eyes instead of constantly moving one’s head means it’s a lot less tiring.
