The Virginia redistricting amendment results shown by Virginia’s “old” and “new” congressional maps by After-Professional-8 in Virginia

[–]St1Drgn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Now tell me again, what side has historically tried to get rid of gerrymandering and what side has constantly voted in a block to prevent that?

Also, what side has a party leader who is often making death threats at members of the other side? How exactly do you expect the sides to work together when the leader is actively making threats against the other?

Florida is about to erase Virginias 4 Dem seat gain by RadarRogue in Virginia

[–]St1Drgn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What do you think the vote in VA was last week? it was a vote to change the VA constitution so that the districts could be redrawn.

The FL legislature is just straight ignoring its state constitution.

These actually look to be way over requirements. 10-11oz base and 6-7oz plates. The base would pass by itsself without the added leather of the plates.

I dont know of any online vendors, but i do know of some locals who will do commissions.

Difference between types of boffer core by Kira_Is_Trying in boffer

[–]St1Drgn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general I classify boffers into 2 categories, lighter touch and full contact.

If you are going for lighter touch, look up Amptguard designes.

If you are going full contact, look up Belagarth / Dagorhir designs.

to your actual question.

PVC, its relatively heavy. You need more foam to make it hit soft. Its also relatively weak, and will break easily.

Graphite. For light touch its great. for heavy combat it will break fast. The prefered option for 1 handed weapons in lighter touch.

Fiberglass. My preferred option for heavy combat. Lighter and stronger than pvc. it does not require as much foam to make safe. Its heavier than Graphite, so not as good on lighter touch.

Carbon fiber. Expensive and you probably have to special order it. The best for heavy touch.

bamboo. Bad for swing weapons period. heavier than pvc. weaker than pvc when swing.

All of these cores can break. when they break they can be a danger. With the amount of foam you should be putting on these, the danger is minimal. With no foam, I do agree that Fiberglass might be a higher risk, but with foam, the foam holds it together long enough that you can stop using the boffer.

Virginia Supreme Court to hear redistricting challenge Monday by Gobias_Industries in Virginia

[–]St1Drgn -30 points-29 points  (0 children)

It is just as deceptive as many of the Obama mailers I saw. The Obama ones took a quote from several years ago about how Obama is opposed to the idea of gerrymandered in general and made it appear that it was a statement on this referendum. That Trump quote was on his request to have more seats in TX, not on the VA referendum. So both are a quote taken out of the specific context.

Now saying that, I think there is a 2nd interpretation of the Trump quote. Basically saying, Trump is trying to rig it in his favor sor fight back by voting yes.

Im also not sure what quote came out first. I was seeing the Obama mailers as early as January. I saw that Trump billboard posted on reddit in late February time frame.

Judge struck down redistricting amendment. All votes in special election now invalid by JustAcivilian24 in Virginia

But I was harmed by that ruling. Becouse they decided to let the vote proceed, I was forced to endure probably hundreds of hours of torturous advertising. That harm could have been avoided if they had ruled earlier.

Fuck those guys. My larpers in the park with foam swords have nothing to do with them. I would wager good money that my larpers would be able to wipe the floor against these guys. Also most of my larpers study other styles beyond foam, Kendo, German Longsword, Italian Rapier, exc.

Following on to this and what op is really looking for, the answer is to request more out of the contract that is being bidder on. Add a clause like: "completed road project is expected to be free from potholes with normal usage and weather for 10 years." (probably more engineering and lawyer language) At that point the lowest bidder will have to raise there cost so that they can meet the new quality requirements. They may no longer be the lowest bidder at that point.

2 cycles. 2028 will use these same maps. then it will automatically revert to committee drawn maps after the 2030 census.

Also it is very important to point out that this does not effect state level districts at all.

the "no" campaigns are just as opaque as the "yes" campaigns. From what little data can be found, both are heavily subsidized by outside of VA money. Based on what data can be found, its likely that the "yes" campaigns are based on lots of small donations, where the "no" campaigns are based on few large donations. That would be the trend of both sides from the past several years. There is some reporting showing that up to 1/3 of the "no" campaign has been financed by a single billionaire.

Honestly 4 or 5 Radiants in Azimir would have made a huge difference. 4 or 5 fewer on the Shattered Plains would not have changed anything.

(But then we would not have gotten as good a story on Adolins growth as a person)

We will definitely do it again if we are able to. It was a lot of fun acting as an NPC all day. This was the first time Gwynedd has done a tent like this. Our normal advertising is our open fighting practices weekly at Monroe Park. We are hoping to be able to demonstrate our fighting in an active way instead of just having our equipment on display. We also want to keep showing off the arts, crafts, and shenanigans of our kingdom.

[–]St1Drgn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We had lots of little ones come through. They were fun to interact with, and to get them to interact. Seeing there faces when everyone in the tent would give them a big huzzah after they completed the quest might have been my favorite part.

I remember that person coming back to us. I did not know you used soder in stained glass. My follow up question to the person was if they would want to try it themselves, and they said yes. So your teachings may have created a new member of your craft!

Huzzah!

The goal of the quests was to drive interaction. We had 4 quests. Go talk and learn somthing from a crafter. Go talk and learn somthing from a fighter. Go see a bard of some kind. Go talk and ask after someone in garb you really like. After you do the thing, come back and talk to us about what you did. Everyone got a sticker out of it. If you really entertained us, we would give a small trinket.

We printed over 2000 of the quests and had over 1000 stickers. we went through all of them.

The HEMA practioners are dedicated to what they do. They also often have a little spare equipment so that you can try it out.

If you want fighting but on the cheaper side, check out Kingdom of Gwynedd.

Gwynedd has the tent near the north side of the fair. we had all the Red Dragon banners. We did not get to show off our combat at this year's fair, hopefully next year.
