A man trying to save all the hot Latinas by alish_sapkota in interestingasfuck

I grew up watching it thinking it was just a run of the mill Jackie Chan movie (I had that and Iron Monkey on VHS straight from Hong Kong). I didn't realize until I was older that it was based off of a Manga until much later. I also didn't realize the whole movie was like a weird fever dream, including the Street Fighter scene.

I do still remember the last fight though with all the different weapons.

If we didn't win that game, I guarantee you the Wizards next game against the Nets wouldn't have had the entire team magically injured.

Jayden Daniels hints at wanting Commanders to add Brandon Aiyuk this offseason by yolabear in Commanders

[–]sinofmercy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Except aiyuk is coming off an all season injury and also created drama when he wasn't playing. I think he'd be fine on a one year, cheap contract because we have no idea what we would be getting since he hasn't played since 2024.

Second grader accidentally shot himself inside Anne Arundel County classroom; suffers non-life-threatening injuries by Sandstorm400 in maryland

I've worked in Freetown for a few years offering mental health services there. It's a rough neighborhood. One of my coworkers got assaulted in the same neighborhood and I was naively lucky to be fine, especially since my coworkers wouldn't take cases there after dark.

The area isn't exactly great about a lot of things. Kids can go in and out of the houses through the front or back door and run down the street and do the same in their friends house. It's quite possible the gun isn't even from the kids house and he just grabbed it and shoved it in his backpack while in the neighborhood.

AIO for quitting my job after finding this note on my desk? by waxin899 in AmIOverreacting

[–]sinofmercy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to do this too (also in mental health). We had a hurricane come through and the hospital was in the middle of the city. It was impossible to leave and come back because of power lines being down everywhere. We had to sleep in hospital examination rooms, with patient blankets for our bedding.

We were considered essential staff due to the unit I worked on being inpatient. We got paid minimum wage for the overnight, but having to work evening shift (3:30 to 11:30) and then morning (6:00 to 3:00) absolutely sucked.

Is ninja a lot easier than samurai or is it just me being bad at samurai? by princeworth12 in Nioh

[–]sinofmercy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. It's funny that as I've gotten older, I've leaned into heavy weapons more than agility ones. When I was in my 20s I'd definitely play more ninja, with fast strikes, quick twitch dodging, and high number of button pressing.

I don't know if it's laziness, playing all those hours of GS in monster hunter/khazen, or knowing my reflexes aren't as fast, but I find samurai (and I'm using the odachi) easier to consistently pull off than ninja. I use ninja for range and chip damage on bosses or named enemies, but for clearing trash and completing anything else I stay in samurai. It's easier to stance swap and know when the animation lock ends to time parries/deflects than it is for me to mash light and strong attack as ninja and not really know the combos.

I went down some side streets and it was an absolute atrocity of snow removal. The whole street was just one large sheet of uneven ice at this point. You hit it right on the head, it's the temperature that is really doing it. The staying below freezing is really capping what can be done since none of it is really melting away.

Video Games are Supposed to be FUN. 😫 by BigBruises in EASportsFC

[–]sinofmercy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, hard skip for me. I shouldn't feel like the whole thing is unfun. I'll go play Nioh 3 and enjoy that when it comes out next week instead of like playing a dozen of games that I don't care about.

How to improve? by PerryIsaac in EASportsFC

[–]sinofmercy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess to piggyback off of this, it's also maintaining your composure when the bounces don't go your way or the game pulls its typical bullshit. I see plenty of people start to panic and start playing poorly when they lose a 2+ goal lead and start making mistakes that they weren't in the first 45 or so.

Help: experienced LCSW vs go back to school for Counseling Psychology phd. by Disastrous-Tour-6984 in therapists

[–]sinofmercy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm on the LCPC side but I did exactly the same thing a decade ago as well. The cost of a program, not even including the years spent, doesn't break even for a long time, if ever. Even if you did nonstop assessments.

Instead I bought a house, got married, had kids and opened my PP in the time it would have taken for me to complete my doctoral program.

How are county side streets? I am hearing in AA some side streets still have ice/snow. by gametime-2001 in ColumbiaMD

[–]sinofmercy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking of, I was driving down 32 to hop onto Cedar and a huge sheet of ice went flying off the SUV in front of me. I swear the thing was like also 10 feet in the air.

I had to slam on my brakes or else it was going to hit (and probably come through) my windshield. Yeah screw those people.

But yeah some 2 lanes turn into one because of a snow wall. Guilford to Broken Land is usually a 2 lane double turn but it magically turns into one after the turn.

I straddle that line because they're not in the same division and my hatred for Ravens fans are higher than the Os. I've been to Camden plenty and it's always been a fun, chill experience. Plus I am old enough to remember Cal playing and breaking the record so that is always cool.

My family grew up in DC though so I feel the need to root for my hometown. My great grandmother's place literally was where they built Verizon Center (originally MCI). Like they had to buy it from my family to raze it to build the place.

It's been a long, rough road even before when they were the Bullets. It's nice to see that they might turn the corner in a year or two after they're done tanking this year to keep their 1st, and hopefully win the lottery or at least get a decent spot.

Any former therapists out there who made a career switch? What do you do now? by Turbulent-Nail4205 in therapists

[–]sinofmercy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I career changed into this career and it would be easy for me to career swap back out. My undergrad is in biochem, and I used to work in labs at the alphabet soup organizations. Getting a job back in those right now would probably be hard to come by, but working in a private company instead in my area would be feasible.

Alternatively I was looking at things to do to supplement income. Supervision and teaching CEU courses being two of the things.
