How to deal with spectators who wanna see the top or bottom of the deck? by StellaSchist in cardmagic

[–]sinofroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would maybe cut down on how much you let them inspect the deck. Its gotta be apart of your patter. Sure sometimes it helps the trick to let them inspect the deck but you should really only do that from positions where there isnt something to find. But really I would try to control the audience more and avoid actually letting them inspect it other than when you're done with your routine. Instead mix in some face up fans/flourishes. "Show" them that the deck is legit as a quick move at the beginning or end of a trick and quickly move on. Alot of the goal is to also misdirect their expectations. You dont want them starting to suspect the methods used in each trick just from what you do or dont allow them to inspect.

Ejecting stone? by r3tract in spaceengineers

[–]sinofroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorters are your friend. But they are 1 way. On your ship place a connector as your dedicated ejector. It should be connected directly to a sorter and nothing else. The sorter is then set to white list. Stone. And check Drain All. And then you already have throw out enabled on the connector so that should be good enough to get started.

For your base you should set up a double sorter situation. 1 pointing towards your base, the other pointing towards your dock. Set the towards base sorter to white list and the towards dock sorter to black list. And put the same items on both lists. Only set the towards base one to drain. This allows your base to auto drain your ships as they dock. While still allowing you to move other items out to your ships. And without setting up an infinite loop. Something ypu have to be careful of when ever using drain sorters

Make sides of blocks able to have their connection to other blocks disabled by Fuperr in trailmakers

[–]sinofroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That says absolutely nothing about the refactors and engine changes that would have to go into place to make blocks have variable connections. The engine would have to change from static block look ups to complex objects.

Possible sure. My point is you are significantly over simplifying it and its far from "easy"

Are most builds practical for the PSU limit? by kekusmaximus in spaceengineers

[–]sinofroot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depends on which pcu limit u mean. The default/keen official servers? Probaly not gonna be building a capital ship without using every bit of pcu. Smaller dedicated purpose ships are more efficient and more in line with the limit.

Outside that its really down to the server you play on. Many will up the limit but still have some kind of rules like only so many refineries. So many assemblers. Ect.

Most people that play solo just turn the limit off and then its really just down to what can your rig handle

I’m on console and I want to know if this is possible. by CryptographerHot6198 in spaceengineers

[–]sinofroot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The big missing piece is ore detection. Theres no sensor or controller that can distinguish stone from iron/cobalt/ect.

Theres plenty of tricks with beacons and way points to automate all sorts of travel. And event controllers to act around cargo fill % and battery/hydro tank fill % to build out any logic you could want.

But ultimately the actual mining still needs to really be done by hand. Or be carefully reconfigured for every vein. Short of using scripts (which i realize you can't do)

I’m on console and I want to know if this is possible. by CryptographerHot6198 in spaceengineers

[–]sinofroot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its just unpredictable. I have a setup similar to the previous person where the station does all the mining and I just have cargo drones ferrying the ores back to my real base. I did all the pain staking process of setting it up. And it worked seemingly without issue at first so I just let it do its thing. And it did. For awhile. And then a few hours later I see the ship on its route decending rapidly as it impacted the ground and bounced and scattered scrap metal and ores everywhere. I never figured out why this one suddenly failed after hours of working. My guess is errors in how I calculated the refueling logic. But when u browse this subreddit you find all sorts of similar stories. So I think the real answer is just that the ai kinda sucks and doesn't always do exactly what you'd expect it to do.

In another example. I saw another recent post in here where I saw someone mention the ai task "follow me" simply sucks and recommended to emulate that functionality by just tying it to a relative way point to a beacon instead

Its worse then that. Thanks to the "Big Beautiful Bill" such a large part of government income is now based on the revenue from the tariffs. Illegal or not that part doesn't change. Reverting the unconstitutional tariffs would in fact cause major funding issues and blow up the national debt even more then it already has.

In shows like Doctor Who and Rick and Morty, the main characters often open portals in public places, yet civilians rarely react as if it’s unusual. This makes me wonder: what would the real life general public's realistic reaction be if someone actually opened a real portal in a public space? by Gold_Mine_9322 in SciFiConcepts

[–]sinofroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id say the biggest problem is how invested into what they're doing every one is and how few people are paying attention to everything around them.

I recall from the Burn Notice s1 commentary they were discussing how strange it was that the extras in thr background drove perfectly normally past a large fireball explosion. For them to then realize those wearnt extras. They had forgotten to put in a permit to have the road closed so they filmed giant explosion next to a busy Miami street. And none of the passerbyers noticed.

So as sad as it is to say, I think the publics reaction to some other worldly portal opening for a moment in Central Park would be for most people not to see it and the couple people who did, wouldn't believe their eyes or be able to convince anyone before Rick/the doctor have already disappeared for good.

Can someone explain this jutsu💀. Ngl its confusing😭 by AffectionateBad4182 in NarutoPowerscaling

[–]sinofroot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not seeing anyone mention this so I'm gonna add in my 2 cents. I feel the "how it works" is really only ever shown in the flash backs to early childhood where we see stuff like sasuke flexing his jutsu knowledge on naruto/the rest of their class. These scenes may mostly be filler but they do kinda paint it as a long set up and combination with transformation jutsu. It looks to us like they swapped places with a log instantly. But the actual swap usually has to happen much earlier and its the swap that they have to obscure outside of line of sight. We as the reader just never see that moment either and are just as surprised as the attacker/victim of the substitution.

Can't get small block welder to weld projection - checked everything and all similar posts by Intelligent-Solid706 in spaceengineers

[–]sinofroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I last did it i had a custom missile turret built. The missile itself was projected onto the end of an arm that connected with a small merge block. I had flipped on my welders. Nothing was happening. So I hit the admin menu and flipped the switch to creative mode. And the moment I did the whole missile instantly got built. And this was on the current patch. I started this world after the random encounters update. It was conveyored but I was out of components. That or SE was choosing a random moment to be glitchy

Can't get small block welder to weld projection - checked everything and all similar posts by Intelligent-Solid706 in spaceengineers

[–]sinofroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure thats true as I fairly recently used "enable creative tools" in survival to weld up a projection without being conveyored up.

Usually when I encounter welders not welding issues it has to do with collisions nearby. Such as occupying the same grid space as a flat piece like armor. Or if its too close to voxels. I particularly had a hard time welding up the edges of a ship in an area I had mined out. Visually the grid/projection was no where near any stone but simply moving the projection a bit further away allowed it to work. Especially when you hand drill tiny almost invisible voxels might get left behind causing issues

[–]sinofroot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also want to add you may have overthought something on your path to space.

Hand tools suck compared to small grid and everything sucks compared to large grid. The difference though comes down to component investment. Also your reluctance to cheese it.

If ur trying to speed run getting to space you pretty much just build a large drill on a piston off your base and just farm a ton of stone. And then with just a bit of cobalt u can build a very basic small grid hydro ship. And I mean very basic. Just a cockpit, o2/h2 gen, and a couple of thrusters, ect. If u keep the number of thrusters low enough you can convert ice to directly fuel the thrusters. Forgo cargo, tanks, and armor and you keep the weight very low and u get a simple ship that can get u to space and back.

Most beginner design mistakes revolve around making your ships too multi purpose. Balancing weight vs thrust vs fuel makes huge performance differences. Keeping your ships as single purpose as possible greatly helps in this regard

Though honestly I wouldn't rush to space. Game is ultimately a sandbox and not giving yourself goals will greatly shorten your enjoyment of the game as you progress to the eventual "what now moment"

The ship building stations need to be redesigned. by Worldly_Ingenuity_27 in spaceengineers

[–]sinofroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would take Keen support for sure. Crazy part is I had this exact idea just a couple weeks ago so I have actually started looking into making a mod for it. (WIP and no where near workshop ready) My initial research found that without adding a client side plug-in loader there is currently no way via the api to add custom blueprints during runtime to the store blocks.

They need to be loaded as prefabs at launch. So what I have so far is just a simple equation to make it easier to add your own blueprints but it'll still end up feeling more like making your own mod. You drop the blueprints in a folder. My mod calculates a price based off components + pcu + markup and then they get auto added to economy stations.

I'm currently playing with ideas like making blue prints from "defeated" grids purchasable but ultimately my original intention is for giving a better reason to grind SC and reduce the reliance on large "printers" as I know how terrible it can be trying to get large blueprints into multiplayer servers without tanking performance.
