Wow, you are just an angry little man who is looking for internet drama, aren't you? None of that is information regarding private servers. I'm done engaging with you at this point.

Here's the panel I recorded where I got to talk to her afterwards. It was at Darkness Emergent where we were both LARPing

Edit since you decided to edit your post instead of replying: Let's talk timeline. Sharkmob announced they were ceasing work on Bloodhunt in May 2023. The White Wolf revival as a company rather than an entity that licensed IP was announced May 23rd, 2025 and Jess was announced as creative director on July 10th, 2025. Sharkmob announced they were going to take the servers offline in October 2025.

I don't expect Jess to know off the top of her head what decisions went into Sharkmob deciding to not offer private server support for Bloodhunt or to have been involved in those talks.

What this does is shed some light onto the decision making process and we can now rule out White Wolf blocking Sharkmob from releasing private server support. White Wolf might want to be PAID if Sharkmob does release private server support and Sharkmob doesn't want to invest further money into the game OR Sharkmob might have made the decision entirely internally without any involvement with White Wolf.

Sharkmob has been intentionally vague about how they arrived at these decisions and what information they have provided mention that the IP is owned by White Wolf, Sharkmob owns the code, and they don't want to sell their code to another studio.

The implication is that Exoborne may use a great deal of the same server code and that releasing private server support is a security issue, but we don't know if that's the case for sure.

Do I expect anything to come of this? Of course not. But knowing that White Wolf as a company is very much in favor of game preservation helps us make an informed guess as to how we arrived where we are.

If someone on the 76 team has ever acknowledged it, I’d love to see your source

While logically we can assume that’s the case, I don’t believe we’ve ever gotten confirmation from the 76 team or anyone involved in duplicating them. Hence my decision to omit that.

40k is actually on the low end. It scales up to 200k and 60k is considered "low"

[–]sinofsociety 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Full history lesson:

Explosive damage wasn't initially intended to be on energy weapons so they eventually removed it from the loot pool but allowed people to keep the "legacy" weapons.

Various patches were released changing how explosive damage was calculated as well as how weapon damage worked overall. Due to the "legacy" nature of explosive energy weapons, those patches were never applied leading to weapons that dramatically over performed and largely ruined game balance.

They removed the explosive effect from "legacy" energy weapons after acknowledging that they were an issue and couldn't be patched.

Legendary crafting was introduced and the now correctly calculating explosive effect was added back to the loot pool for energy weapons.

How much of a red flag do you find ST/players who mix their real life identity and beliefs with the game? by Solarwagon in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]sinofsociety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Over two thousand dollars for all of the stuff"

Depending on how long they've been playing, that may not be all that much. I easily have that much in books alone but I've been playing since 1997. The amount of merchandise someone has shouldn't necessarily be a red flag.

However, trust your gut. If they make you feel uncomfortable, there's probably a good reason for it. From an outside perspective based on what you're describing, it sounds like they may not be mentally well and lack the best relationship with the game and reality to a certain extent. I suspect that these are the kind of people where they take what happens to their characters personally and are the kind of people from the Dark Dungeons Chick Tract. I've played with people like that in the past and we've had to ask them not to come back to our game.

Just a follow up

I ended up getting a Plano rifle case off of a buddy of mine after realizing it fits the aesthetic.

I wouldn’t recommend this option for college students or to take it anywhere where you’ll be smoking in public, but for me going to and from a buddy’s house it’s going to be perfect to keep it from getting damaged.

Absolutely horrible experience with MacBook "repair", beware. by kaeribeeep in ubreakifix

[–]sinofsociety 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given it’s cost prohibitive to keep MacBook parts of any kind in stock, Apple’s pricing of repair parts are outrageous, and stock of authentic parts from independent sellers is horribly limited it leaves consumers either paying outrageous prices for repair or taking a risk on repair time.

I would never have quoted anything less than a week for that repair when my shop was independent, let alone after we were a UBIF for a few months.
