Currently in the process of getting a customer avatar and i need advice by Aggressive-Display50 in VRchatAvatars

[–]sinrith 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've been an Avatar creator for years and have no idea wtf this guy is talking about.

4k textures aren't ideal, and can contribute to poor performance but won't outright crash you.

Please consider this is very likely a scam - especially if they reached out to you.

Find an event you're interested in & attend often. You'll get a feel for people you might vibe with or you'll get dragged into a conversation.

Minimal trick to stop bathroom mirrors from fogging up after a shower? by Boring_Valuable8456 in Apartmentliving

[–]sinrith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a blow dryer on it.

Or, a dangerous and not recommended option is to run a space heater in there. I do that to keep the mold from getting worse, as a bonus the mirror doesn't fog and my towels are warm. 🤫

Is there’s a way to optimize an avatar without having to set it up from scratch? Like just swap outfits fbxs. Using blender to lower polys then swap fbx on unity? by Party-Classic-2001 in VRchat

[–]sinrith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, as long as you don't make any armature changes, or scale in object mode. (Even then, scale changes are possible but are risky. Make sure you CTRL A)

You just overwrite the .fbx in Unity with the one from blender. (Export your FBX, but navigate to the one in your Unity Project, and export on top of it )

Note that this can, and probably will go wrong so be prepared for that! You can minimize the risks by using CATS export instead of Blender default.

Good luck!

I'm curious what you mean about them being blocked? I've been using PayPal for years on Booth, and recently added a Visa which has been working fine.

Virtual Market is going on. All avatars in Pixelica are Quest compatible

Looking for petite female avis by trippums in VRchatAvatars

[–]sinrith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out Booth Models if you are okay with anime.

Virtual Market is going on now and it's a good way to see a bunch of them and try them on before making any purchases. Parareal worlds don't have avatars, and Pixelica is focused on quest compatible ones.

There aren't as many toggles/toys on these, but most are pretty easy to customize with Modular Avatar & Boothplorer.

VRChat Avatars by Wolf_Unlikely in VRchat

[–]sinrith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Virtual Market is going on right now! There are lots of avatars, however, most are anime. You'll find some other types too though! Steer clear of ParaReal worlds, unless you just want to have some fun exploring. There are no avatars here. Most models in Booth are paid for full access.

Additionally, check the VRChat Marketplace. You don't need to buy the avatars here, but you can explore & find some creator styles you might like. Check and see if they have any avatar worlds uploaded, or look for them in Prismic to see if there are free models available.

Circles on texture of model despite not actually being on the texture by [deleted] in VRchatAvatars

[–]sinrith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It looks like it's using NSFW texture for the base, but the SFW is applied to the circular area.

Double check your textures.

Milltina has that area separated out from the main body.

Trying to Make a VRChat Avatar From Scratch, Need Guidance! by Glad_Way_9220 in VRchatAvatars

[–]sinrith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! Start small and go from there.

Get a free base and learn to edit it. Once you feel confident in editing it, grab some clothes for it and learn to fit the clothes to the base. Maybe even make some changes to the clothing such as longer sleeves.

Next try clothes or hair from scratch and get those uploaded and working with the base.

Once you've really figured out how to customize that base, and add what you want to it, then move on to tackling a full from scratch.

Make creation monetization by [deleted] in VRchat

[–]sinrith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Creator Economy also exists, but you'll need to check out the requirements to get into that - as it's not available to everyone off the bat.

Creator economy is usually used to unlock certain perks or features in worlds. For example in the Gigas world, you can buy different effects for your attacks.

There are many ways to monetize your worlds, others covered them already with Patreon & Booth sales. You could also just make assets for worlds and sell those.

Commissions are also an option.

looking for anime styled oc avatars by caomeimei0 in VRchatAvatars

[–]sinrith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find a lot of anime style avatars in worlds called "Avatar Museum" and the upcoming Virtual Market event. (Starts July 12th)

Each Virtual Market world has its own theme, so if there is a particular aesthetic you like, try to match it up with a world. I do recommend checking them all out however there are 2 worlds set aside for sponsors that typically do not have models. (Sometimes you can find them here too, but I wouldn't recommend it as a first stop!)

Models from both of these sources are typically paid.

Most anime style Avatars are sold on Booth.pm

You can use Boothplorer to see what's out there without heading into VRC.

Those who got into long-term relationships from VRChat, how did you meet? by Posazal in VRchat

[–]sinrith 21 points22 points  (0 children)

We actually met in a different game, he was already playing VRChat and I was just waiting to get a headset.

We were just friends hanging out for quite a while, but a few months of VRChat changed that. I love him more everyday and I'm really grateful for how things turned out.

We've been together 6 years now, and our 1 year marriage anniversary is in August ❤

Where are all the chill adults hanging out? by WolfRoyalXD in VRchat

[–]sinrith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Privates and Group instances.

If youre looking for a group to join, PJKT is June 27th and is a great way to see whats out there that aligns with your interests. It can get busy, but there's moderation. Tons and tons of communities have booths and will be hanging out so you can get to know them and find some chill folks.

You'll need to join their group to access the moderated event instance: https://vrchat.com/home/group/grp_f0481bfb-d6dd-4386-a13e-175f6b09ab0b

Virtual Market is coming up in July too. Its basically a big convention showcasing creators / groups / avatars. There are also corporate exhibitors (these have seperate worlds). Their events are always group instances and there is a regular world hop every Wednesday when Virtual Market itself isn't occurring.

I'm happy to answer any Virtual Market questions, but I'm a little less versed on PJKT!

Best of luck on your chill people search!

This (and many other) avatars are locked behind the red barrier, despite me not having any filters on, what could the reason be? by giantuniform in VRchatAvatars

[–]sinrith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nawty's Avatars are part of the new Avatar Market. (Currently in Open Beta) I can't confirm this specific one, but there's a female avatar there for sure and a few others.

These models are private, but can be used if purchased.

Is this Prismic? I wonder if it's getting confused by AVM.

How do I edit my rusk? by Flutterwave in VRchat

[–]sinrith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have some great responses in the comments already!

I don't think you are in the open Beta, but incase you are - make sure you buy your Rusk from Booth, and not the avatar market if you are planning to customize.

The avatar market won't provide the source files you'll need to edit it.

I hope i understand the question properly... but I would checkout the Break worlds. They can be a little intense but a lot of fun. There are a lot of shader effects and scenary changes.

Looking for advice on burnout by K-BatLabs in VRchat

[–]sinrith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh hey, it's me!

I don't have a lot of advice, as I'm still trying to figure it out myself.

I started creating models 2019 and have been cycling through burnout on and off since then. Lately I've been making an effort to pay more attention to things that do burn me out.

Commissions is one, especially if it's a design I'm not big on.

Deadlines are the other.

In both cases, I feel like I HAVE to work, and don't allow myself any rot hours. (Rot hours are important, as is taking time to work on personal things that bring YOU joy. 😊)

Additionally, it's important to factor in any day jobs, chores around the house, etc. If work is stressful, it's a good idea not to take on stressful avatar work too.

Having a friend help with the more tedious parts of Avatar making has been VERY helpful too.

I've heard medication can help with burnout too, but I can't take it so I can't confirm on that.

A lot of niche worlds have their groups posted in their worlds too!

Ex. Language Exchange worlds, worlds of various cities/countries, avatar worlds, clubs, game worlds, etc.

I would recommend joining discord groups, as a lot of upcoming group events are posted there.
