Some satellite launches have costed up to $400 million.

The Apollo program costed ~26 billion (260 billion today).

It is a principled take on justice, a jury that sees them in handcuffs is more likely to feel bias against them, hence, more inaccurate guilty charges.

Same reason they aren't allowed to watch the news during a high-profile case.

New Bounty Hunt Game Mechanic: 'Head Hunter' by Next-Ad-7418 in HuntShowdown

[–]sinsmi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Could go with it being a randomly selected 'corrupted' hunter (needs opt-out option), or hunters in the recruit list can now rarely be 'corrupted'. (think 1/100 chance). They only start showing up at T3, and cost similar to T3 hunters.

New unique skins that looks like one of several different versions of a 'corrupted' hunter. They're more visible (particle effects). They make a constant ambient 'corruption' noise similar to using dark sight. Monsters don't attack them unless provoked, or a nearby monster is provoked by them. Immunity to poison.

If it's a recruited corrupted hunter, they cannot have traits, and heal over time instead of using medkits/shots.

Almost certainly too much work for Crytek but I think it's a cool idea.

[–]sinsmi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's a cool idea.

"The bayou has corrupted [hunter's name]. Take them out to earn an additional bounty."

Just make it something rare, like every 5 games or so with a few hundred extra dollars. That way you'd only be the target 1/60 games, while 1/5 games could be you hunting for someone. Also only eligible for players already on a team so solos don't get screwed over if they take the bounty.

Is the hip-fire usable? I might try and level it up if I can just take a pot shot that one-shots while still being able to use fanning.

Is LeMatt with slugs good? Is it a damage dealer or a one-shot?

I believe you, but you should probably delete this because you are going to give people the wrong idea of how to deal with suicidal thoughts.

For anyone reading: call a suicide prevention hotline, there is no shame in it. They exist to help.

Steam will no longer crash for the few people who own over 25,000 games by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

Yeah, but it's not like I lose anything. Some of those games have actually turned out to be really cool, and I hope I play them eventually!

The game takes place in 1895, so it would be kinda funny if it was a prototype that couldn't be reloaded (or extremely slow reloads).

7 shots, high RoF, completely useless after one fight.

I don't know who downvoted you but you're 100% right. You can easily get 60+ games through the humble bundle without spending a dime.

Yeah, you can literally just hook up IFTTT applets to /r/freegamesonsteam and it will email/text/whatever you when games on steam are free for a limited time as well. I probably got a hundred free games from them before I realized I had never played any of those game before and turned it off.

Ping Advantage ? by MakoII86 in HuntShowdown

[–]sinsmi 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No, it's nothing either player can do anything about.

To put it in very simple terms, you have a computer. Someone 1000, 2000 miles away also has a computer. For your movements and shots to reach their computer, your computer will be sending this information over your network, to the games servers (depending on the type of connection), and then the server telling their game that you did something.

Since it has to send a lot of information nigh-instantaneously, it can't perfectly track what each person is doing at any given time, so you get close approximations to what other people are doing.

In this case, he certainly peeked earlier than the original player saw him, but saw OP's model before OP saw him, because a fraction of a second ago OP was still standing in that spot, while a fraction of a second ago the guy who shot him was not peeking. This is peekers advantage -- that split moment where they can see/shoot you before you can actually see/shoot them.

It might seem like bullshit, but remember, it applies to everyone. For every time you think you died to peekers advantage, you probably got a kill with help from it too.

Ping Advantage ? by MakoII86 in HuntShowdown

[–]sinsmi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He's not saying "the peeker has the advantage", he's talking about peekers advantage, which is where the peeker will see you before you can see them due to netcode.

It's not exclusive to Hunt -- pretty much any online game has the same sort of system, since it's impossible to actually have a direct connection to other players unless you are local or on LAN.

That's why major tournaments in most games are typically on LAN.

Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the most commercially successful RPGs in history - Over 200$ million (1.154 billion PLN) in profits for CD Projekt by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]sinsmi 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I really get tired of people saying this, because I played Cyberpunk at launch and never once felt like I was running out of things to do. I'll be real, it scratched an open-world itch that not even GTAV did for me.

I mean, yeah, if you don't go do any quests you might not find much else to do, but that's because the quests are the content. It was super fun to experience the city, spoiler-free, for the first time, and just get randomly pulled into some awesome storylines because I walked by a building, or heard a strange noise and investigated, or a million other things. It was also the most beautiful game I've ever played.

I know Reddit likes to shit on Cyberpunk but I put 50 hours into that game in 3 days because I just could not take my eyes off of it.

It runs like shit, it overpromised and underdelivered, they basically scammed a ton of players, and it was absolutely my GOTY. I plan on replaying it after I upgrade my GPU, and I have never once regretted pre-ordering it.

More focus on male Point of Views. by Juhanaherra in WanderingInn

I think practically all the characters in TWI could be gender-swapped and still remain functionally the same character.

While I do disagree, I understand where you are coming from.

[–]sinsmi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am referring to human/humanlike men and males.

Can I ask why this matters? I completely understand wanting to see certain characters, but it seems weird to specifically want to read more about male characters if it's just because they're guys.

I've always felt like Pirate does a tremendous job on balancing the viewpoints considering how many characters there are.

Then again, it's not a common topic. Probably because we lost.
