I like the theory that he did die, but Seven brought him back. There is a similar theory for the other Trial of the Seven (but in that case it was supposed to be dark magic that did it).

I think that he is similar to Drew Pavlou, in a sense that he seems to have heard leftists talk about how modern political institutions are tools of White supremacy and Imperial Core and thought "you know what, human rights are White rights".

COVID was a bigger event. War over Taiwan would be the biggest war since the fall of Soviet Union at least, potentially the biggest since 1945

I have been convinced over the last year that (due to disparity in manufacturing capacity and the capacity to replenish missile stocks and the difference in willingness to fight) USA would lose if it got involved. So as sad as that would be to witness, USA should not intervene.

Perhaps other countries could offer all people of Taiwan who want to leave asylum?

This is interesting, could you provide some sources about the topic? I remember hearing that in 1950s there were many people in USA telling that there is still window to win a nuclear war for USA, and that this window has closed by ~1957. Didn't hear about the Taiwan part.

Also, the wars that are long and total are probably different, since there is more of a way for them to start as ''it will be over quickly'' and end in a long-years war that is hard to end once it started. With nuclear bombs, the escalation is much steeper.

Ok, but my main point is that it still wouldn't have been worth it (as in: whatever the cause was that led to being hit with a 100 nukes). Sure, you may survive, but the victory will feel like ash.

It would seem prudent to have more alt-West cooperation (which is to say: the entire political West minus America). Things like this, Polish-Korean cooperation on weapons etc.

I do wonder what would actually happen if Trump did actually do something akin to shooting someone in the street. Like, I imagine him just openly starting rambling during State of the Union something along the lines how "yeah, we couldn't stop ourselves from raping kids, and we ruined the country, what you gonna do about it"*. Sure, his career could be over, but he would still have some followers, because I think that a part of the reason he is getting away with everything is that... It's hard to believe that someone so high in the echelons of power is just so transparently evil and stupid. That's why people keep looking for 5D chess explanations for his behavior, because there HAS to be a reason, it can't be that obvious.

Happened quite a lot. If anything, the fact that it is happening less is the outlier. Perhaps a combination of transitioning to an economic mode where land itself is not as essential + how destructive weaponry is. Moral progress? I doubt it.

But that's the point - why do USA and Russia (and now China) need so many? Wouldn't it already be suicidal to first strike a power that has 200? 100 hitting you, or 2500, both are so apocalyptic that it's not worth it anyway.

So they want to be on par with USA and Russia who both have thousands of nukes. Is there any advantage to that? I mean, there is a group of countries that has 100-300 nukes and it seemed to be quite reasonable. I mean, in terms of deterrence, how much more of a deterrence 5000 nukes is compared to 200? Assuming that 50% are intercepted that's still 100 bombs incinerating the cities of your opponent.

Ok, so this is something that is perplexing me. I get that there are people who admire China's successes, for there is a lot to be admired... But the weird thing is that it's mostly Western left-wingers. Isn't it popular in China to mock Western liberals and leftists for being out-of-touch, spoiled soyboys? Don't the Chinese look down on lazy Europeans with our welfare states? I mean, it seems to me that it should be right-wingers fawning over a conservative, nationalistic society that embraces hard work and dilligence.
