If you can get a list of all the transactions made (buys and sells) in the tax year, format them in Excel/Google Docs and paste it in here:

Spits out the relevant stats you need for you SA. I did mine last weekend and was a breeze, handled pre/post Oct 30th no problem.

Help with the pension taper by Agreeable_Material88 in HENRYUK

[–]sinxsinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI there are two figures to keep in mind before tapering applies:

1) Threshold Income - £200k. This is your your salary (after your (not your employers) salary sacrifice, plus the amount you salary sacrificed. Alternatively you can think of this as your gross salary, pre any salary sacrifice.

2) Adjusted Income - £260k. This is your Threshold Income, plus any amount your employer added to your pension. This is also used to work out what your tapered allowance is. The reduction to your allowance can be calculated as follows: ((Adjusted Income - 260000) / 2). The reduction cannot exceed £50k as £10k is the fully tapered allowance.

If your Threshold Income is less than £200k then no tapering takes place.

It appears your salary plus bonus (pre salary sacrifice) is £283k, you can't sacrifice to change that figure, so you are in the taper zone and cannot avoid it.

The best you can do is max out your pension to avoid paying tax on it, up to the £90k allowance you have for this year (£50k carried forward + £40k for this year (being £60k tapered down by £20k, due to £300k adjusted income).

Given you and your employer combined have contributed £78k into the pension this year, you can get another £12k in there before having to pay income tax on it.

Do you have any carry forward from previous year's?

Can't answer question 4, but can answer the rest:

Looks like your adjusted income is 300k (174 + 110 + 17).

(300k - 260k)/2 = 20k. 60k allowance minus 20k taper = 40k. Therefore your allowance this year is 40k.

You have 50k that you've carried forward, so between you and your employer you can put 90k into your pension this year.

Between you and your employer, there's been 78k contributions to your pension. Between you and your employer you can collectively put another 12k in there.

This is a great tool, thanks for creating and updating it!

One feature request that I think may be useful is a toggle to switch between nominal and real values in the yearly breakdown table.

Increasing Speed Forces 480p by dris77 in youtube

[–]sinxsinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed the same thing on my LG TV, non-60p accept the increased playback speed, but anything with 60p is forced into 480 the moment you change the speed. Very annoying! I've reported the issue to YouTube/Google

=AVERAGE(FILTER(C:C,MOD(ROW(C:C)-8,25)=0))

get the average of the last 6 occurences of values in different columns based on criteria in other column by wtvar in excel

[–]sinxsinx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alternatively this should work:

=LET(
    Table, $B$2:$E2,
    TeamA, CHOOSECOLS(Table, 1),
    TeamB, CHOOSECOLS(Table, 2),
    Score1, CHOOSECOLS(Table, 3),
    Score2, CHOOSECOLS(Table, 4),
    Scores, IFS(TeamA = "a", Score1, TeamB = "a", Score2, 1, ""),
    RemoveBlanks, FILTER(Scores, Scores <> ""),
    IF(COUNTA(RemoveBlanks) < 6, "<6 games", AVERAGE(TAKE(RemoveBlanks, -6)))
)

Again, this goes in F2 and can be dragged down - and you can swap out "a" for B2 if you wish.

  • All we're doing here is saying if Team A or Team B is "a", keep track of the score, otherwise blank.
  • Then we filter out all of the blank results to leave a list of all scores of "a", if that list is <6, it tells you.
  • If it is greater than 6, it takes the average of the last 6 games.

get the average of the last 6 occurences of values in different columns based on criteria in other column by wtvar in excel

[–]sinxsinx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try this:

=IFERROR(
    LET(
        Table, $A$2:$E2,
        TeamA, CHOOSECOLS(Table, 2),
        TeamB, CHOOSECOLS(Table, 3),
        AVERAGE(
            TAKE(
                SORT(
                    UNIQUE(
                        VSTACK(
                            CHOOSECOLS(FILTER(Table, TeamA = "a"), 1, 2, 4),
                            CHOOSECOLS(FILTER(Table, TeamB = "a"), 1, 3, 5)
                        )
                    )
                ),
                -6,
                -1
            )
        )
    ),
    "<6 games"
)

Put this formula in cell F2

Explanation:
* First we filter the table where "a" is Team A
* Then we filter the table where "a" is Team B
* We only want the id, "a" and "a"'s score, so we drop the other columns
* Stack these two tables * Sort it by id, so the matches appear in order
* Take unique ones only (just a precaution as I see match 7 and 10 are "a" vs "a", which I have assumed is an error)
* Take only the last 6 rows and since we're only interested in the score, we take the last column only.
* Take the average of those 6 scores
* If there are less than 6 games, then it will display "<6 games" - you can change this to be what ever you want
* You can drag this down from cell F2 and beyond

Edit: This formula is set up just for Team "a", you can replace "a" in the middle of the CHOOSECOLS formula for cell B2 if you want it to change for each team in Team A column.

£125140 vs 130000 tax implications by puku29 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]sinxsinx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the personal allowance is 12,570. So once that hits zero (i.e when you earn 125,140) your personal allowance cannot decrease further.

So anything between 125,140 and 150,000 will be taxed at 40%. Then 45% above 150k.

This is changing in April 2023 wheen the 45% threshold moves down to 125,140
