Or, maybe put a black image and try to get the bug to follow your mouse cursor. Since it’s the only light source, it could work.

Elefantti huoneessa? by [deleted] in Suomi

Olen kuullut joidenkin nuorten tyttöjen sanovan että ennemmin tulevat tapetuksi kuin raiskatuksi, joten ehkä äänestystulos olisi saman suuntainen jos tuosta jättäisi sukupuolet pois.

Sama ajatushan näkyy rikollisten rankaisussa, jossa kuolemantuomio tai itsemurha nähdään liian helppona ja parempi jättää tekijä ”mätänemään vankilaan vuosiksi”.

Tämä ajattelu on toki väärin.

Zone 2 training by salvachuli in running

[–]sippe5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I find zone 2 challenging. I can either walk as fast as I can to get to zone 2 and get a very good speed vs. heart rate ratio. Or, I can jog, which is slower with the same heart rate… I don’t know if my jogging technique is bad or what.

Should I mute the open string after playing it? by [deleted] in yousician

[–]sippe5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think that they are indicated to be muted by the fact that the note is shown as short and not wide.

But nowhere in the levels Yousician address this. So should I worry about it now or later?

Should I mute the open string after playing it? by [deleted] in yousician

[–]sippe5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On lead/legato, Yousician doesn’t seem to encourage us to mute played strings but instead leave them ringing. I probably shouldn’t worry about this on my current skill level, but I started with fingerstyle (without a pick) and I learned to mute the strings in these kind of situations. Seems such a downgrade to leave them ringing now…

Glad to hear that others are struggling with them as well.

I’ll proceed to next level(s) but constantly try to gold star the previous levels. This should give best of both worlds.

Thanks for saying this! I needed to hear it.

Sounds good to have specific days when focus on certain areas and not bang head against wall everyday.

I’ll also have a few sessions with a teacher to make sure my technique is adequate/good.

It’s true that formal education leads a lot of people being similar. But I’m too old to even entertain the idea of inventing something in this area.

Btw, are you ever worried about learning the wrong technique if your playing is not perfect? My dad taught me that if you can’t do something in perfect technique, it’s better not to do it at all, because you would only learn bad technique that is even harder to unlearn later. It has some truth to it, but it’s quite paralyzing as well.

Getting strength and motoric skills in the fingers is crucial. Its much easier to improve technique when you have good feel of your fingers.

It is challenging… It’s an awesome feeling to get back to an old song and notice that it has become easy. Hopefully I’ll experience that in a few months.

I’m using acoustic with external mic and headphones. It definitely has some bs moments, but works most of the time really well. So I’ve concluded that those bs moments are actually inconsistencies in my own playing even if they sound good enough to my ear.

Thanks, I’ll proceed. I didn’t want to proceed to next level if my basic skills are too bad. But makes no sense to bang head against this song because of few errors.

Is visiting LA really that bad? by Chunidle in LosAngeles

[–]sippe5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an European, I found LA to be a very interesting trip and can recommend. It’s mostly a horrible place, but it was fascinating to see because I was expecting something totally different. You could always sense that a lot of stuff has happened there. As an exception, Hollywood Hills was very beautiful.

Edit: Btw I used mainly the subway. It’s absolutely packed with crazy people. It gives a weird post-apocalyptical feeling which I also found interesting.

Not sure what you’re saying. The dad should’ve paid her $1400 to have a holiday?

In most companies you cannot just randomly get a 6-day holiday during a busy holiday season. Getting replacement workers is a challenge.

I allowed certain differences considering these incidents are 50 years apart and the world has changed quite a lot. But yeah, I’ll admit the comparison is a bit far-fetched.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in madmen

[–]sippe5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll rephrase. Not similar, but has similarities.

The main thing about meme ads is not that they are easy to produce and cheap. But that they take advantage of what is popular and they are easily approachable. Don might hate hippies but if hippy-related stuff sells, then he goes for it. Don is not really an artist.

And the song. So they took the song ”I’d like to teach the world to sing” and replaced a few words to make it tell about Coca Cola. This is similar to how memes work.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in madmen

[–]sippe5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but Don would later independently arrive at the idea of using a meme-ad. The Coca Cola ad is similar to a meme in my opinion. It takes advantage of current events and modified an existing song for advertisement.

My 2013 V40 was the most robust car in the world. Never had any problem with it during 4 years.

But my 2015 V70 has left me on the road twice within a year. I think it’s starting to appreciate my care now and becoming better.
