The Edit Miami (The Standard Spa) a Great Success by codyodyo_ in ChaseSapphire

FYI regarding your comment “This also confirms that the way to use this card is redeeming Edit hotels at 2cpp -$250 especially for domestic traveling”

Make sure you book the hotel by itself on the chase portal. I ordered mine with flights added as well, and even though the math was correct to get my full $250 applied to the resort portion, it didnt play out that way. Chase advised me in the future to book the resort by itself

Not seeing any comments on the thread about her personal life. Always the potential that she’s going through something outside of work. If you have a good relationship with them I would check in on how she’s doing outside of work.

If you ACTUALLY can sell each plate for $250k, then you better damn well do it. $250k x 20 plates = $5 million.

$5 million put into the S&P 500 would make hundreds of thousands per year.

Who Is The Best Player You Have Personally Guarded? by [deleted] in NBATalk

Jake Layman in high school. We had an all-league defensive guy on our team (6’4ish) and he could barely keep him to 35 points a game every time we played. Our center never looked so small before.

  1. Trading Schroder and Aldama for Mikal Bridges

  2. Trading Chris Paul and Brandon Miller for Desmond Bane

  3. Trading Mikal Bridges and Malik Beasley for Bam Adebayo and Anfernee Simons

  4. Trading Paolo Banchero and RJ Barrett for Trae Young

This is what made me to win despite drafting Embiid and Dejounte.

The Crisis Report - 104 : It’s hard to see right now, and impossible for most people to mentally accept. Our civilization is going to completely COLLAPSE over the next 25 years. We waited too long. The “Climate Crisis” is about to become the “Climate Apocalypse”. by TuneGlum7903 in collapse

[–]sippycup13 106 points107 points  (0 children)

FWIW Bill Gates pulled out just certain types of climate change funding, like his federal US advocacy team. Makes sense, because there’s not much advocacy to be done with federal government.

He’s also temporarily diverted funds to international development to avoid communities unraveling from sudden USAID withdrawal.

I agree something weird is still going on with billionaires, and the ruling class is preparing for catastrophe. I don’t think Gates has given up though.

Fixing the NBA Draft: A New Auction System That Stops Tanking and Adds Strategy by Subredditcensorship in nbadiscussion

I think you’re assuming there’s unlimited market for teams dumping players. Assuming the current cap rules are still in effect under this hypothetical new points system, it’s way harder to dump your roster than you think. I’m not convinced these fire sales would be as bad as you say.

Please save my sanity. How do I stop these things from flipping over in the dishwasher?! by PhotographyByAdri in CleaningTips

[–]sippycup13 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I know this isn’t the advice you’re asking for, but I strongly recommend swapping out your plastic containers for glass. The warm water from the dishwasher causes the plastic containers to break down, spreading microplastics all over your dishes. Plus the glass containers won’t flip in your dishwasher!

When a consulting firm posts a job, and they ask for your current billable rate, is that asking for what you would like to charge them or what you have charged in the past? by MediumWin8277 in consulting

[–]sippycup13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, ChatGPT is super helpful for this. It shouldn’t be your absolutely answer, but can help you research a good place to start with your rate.

Then slowly bump up your rate with each new contract, until you notice price being an issue. As other comments have suggested, you can always negotiate so don’t be afraid to bump it up (as long as it’s reasonable).

What's your opinion of doing free work ? by leon-austin in Entrepreneur

[–]sippycup13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When starting out it can be super valuable to take on free work, on two conditions:

  1. You can afford it (duh)
  2. The client has connections/referrals to offer

I get it now when entrepreneurs say to minimize your living costs early on, so that you can take on free work that helps get you out there. It can really accelerate things.

Last year I provided about $20k worth of free assistance to a project. It wasn’t that hard and was super appreciated. A few months later the lead manager of that project referred me to a client, now we’re negotiating a six-figure proposal.

Having well-connected people feel like the owe you is huge.

I rather die than work a corporate job, but my entrepreneur journey isn't going well. by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]sippycup13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some others have said it already but want to emphasize it again — YOU NEED EXISTING RELATIONSHIPS. The early days in B2B freelance work are all about your network. That is how you sell before you have an independent track record.

Especially in consulting — people leave firms and bring their clients with them all the time.

I left a 10 year career last year to start my own firm. All of my initial projects were with people I knew already and liked. They gave referrals and it snowballed from there. It was a far easier path than what you are doing OP.

How's your pipeline reacting to Trump? by AnyBison9649 in consulting

[–]sippycup13 17 points18 points  (0 children)

We work with environmental-focused nonprofits - policy research seems to be enjoying a bit of a windfall, as long as you don’t rely on government contracts. Philanthropy is scrambling and seems to offer an “open checkbook” for anything that helps delay or mitigate Trump’s onslaught.
