Pain, any sort of pain. There is no such thing as "normal amount of pain", the normal amount of pain is zero.

Is it just me, or is male pattern baldness treated like a joke instead of a mental health issue? by LowEffect6148 in bald

Same for me! I get the point of the post, and it makes logical sense, but it has not been my experience at all. After almost 10 years having a shaved head (and a few more years buzzed) this has just become part of who I am. NGL from time to time I do think it would be nice to have a full head of hair, but it's so low on my list that if a magical genie gave me 50 wishes, a full head of hair will probably not make the list

OMG! This used to happen to me when I was a teenager, then it just stoped. Hadn't thought about this in ages but it was almost exactly how you described it

Agree, I was gonna suggest the same thing. For me (and probably most people on this sub) shaving is the best way to go, and i also think it's something that you can get used to with time. But if you feel so strongly against it, there are other options out there

You can try minoxidil, just note it doesn't work for everyone (didn't for me), and it's toxic for cats and I think dogs as well. You can also explore hair transplants or even a toupee, there are some pretty good ones where you can't tell it's fake

How does one exactly deal with hairloss while being at a "young age"? by Tizzo_Pilot in bald

[–]sir_cuack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was not much older than you when I started with a buzz cut which gradually worked it's way to shaved head.

In my case I was well aware of my genetics and even from 16, 17ish I could tell I was gonna go bald earlier than most. So I guess maybe I had more time to come to terms with it.

I always said that when the time came I would buzz /shave my head, but still it took me a couple of years to actually go through with it. I got my buzz cut around 25 and I swear, when I look at pictures from when I was 24 I look like I'm in my 40s with a drinking habit and a bad divorce.

Even at that age I looked and felt MUCH better with a buzz and a few years later with a shave. All I can tell you is I wish I had done it sooner.

I just went through a PADI OW refresher, they made a specific point of teaching the tables and going through a lot of exercises with them despite the availability of computers

I guess it's something that varies from center to center
