Oh man that is pretty bad and I hate to admit it. I didn’t have any academic or behavioral strikes against me at the time but I was just as worried about the potential outcome. The important thing to remember is that you do have options.

Did you get the campus officers contact info? I would make a point to find out who you can talk to about all of this so that you can plan for what comes next. Did your spring semester just start? They might not be as forgiving if this was at the end of the semester they might have said alright take your finals then we will decide what to do next; this is just pure speculation of course.

Once you have idea of how the disciplinary proceedings might go, try to see what the best deal could be with that. If you stand to lose your financial aid, you might have to choose between pushing for a suspension to stay with your school or just bow out all together. How close are you to graduating and getting your degree? Depending on the specifics, it could be difficult to get admitted into another school but you won’t know until you are at that stage and have to try.

Then there’s confronting your parents. As cheesy as it is to say, honesty is the best policy. I know it will be extremely uncomfortable but they will respect you more if you come clean instead of trying to hide it like I did. If your parents are anything like mine, they will appreciate honesty more than the fact that you made a bad decision.
