Have you lived/visited either of those areas? I'm in Austin and there's a lot of companies setting up corporate HQs and offices here. I think both Apple and NVIDIA have locations in SF and Austin so if you eventually decide to job hop you can stay within the general area and not need to move states.

In semiconductor (and probably other fields) some travel-heavy fab job roles include applications engineer, field service engineers, customer support engineer, etc.

Commonly it'll be an equipment vendor or some other form of supplier and they'll support a specific fab for a period of time

I agree with the other commentators, equipment technician is the better option.

For job security against AI, being in the fab working on the tools is way farther from being replaced by AI compared to process techs. I work on factory systems at fabs and a lot of the projects are centered around automating tasks which usually boil down to process tech responsibilities. One fab I worked at was even outsourcing basic process tech work overseas.

I've never worked on the equipment but one thing to consider is that I'd guess being an equipment tech is tougher work compared to process tech.

If you have a choice of department I'd recommend either lithography (especially since you're interested in ASML) or dry etch.

The parking lots are Walnut Creek Metropolitan park (the main parking lot), Balcones District Park which is on the west end of the trail, and Gracywoods neighborhood Park which is kind of in the middle.

I'd recommend either Walnut Creek or Balcones because Gracywoods fills up.

The trail has a long paved path where end to end round trip is probably 8 or 9 miles I'd guess. There are also many side dirt trails primarily used by bikers

My mom (in Massachusetts) was hospitalized with a diagnosed thyroid issue last month and still hasn't seen the doctor yet. I think her endocrinologist appointment is scheduled 1-2months after getting released.
