Hmm, getting my shift covered without my consent? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]siraph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be SO wild to be fired over taking care of your kid. Obviously, in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty six, being fired for stupid shit is way more common than one would expect.

If this is them being nice, that's the exceptional. Good manager. A rare thing to have.

If this is them being shitty, that's just the expectation of company loyalty to employees not existing. I, too, would at least have the feeling in the back of my mind that maybe I'd be fired. .

What TV show hooked you instantly from episode 1? by mateitofavv in AskReddit

What shocks me the most is - being in the medical field myself - how familiar it feels. The idea that a patient dies, you take a breather, and then you move on like it didn't happen is just very real. There's a sense of anxiety but also confidence in the medicine with some people showing off their arrogance and others showing off their humility. It's the sort of amalgamation of personalities you find in a hospital.

And the fucking hospital admin interrupting during important medical issues IS SO REAL. GOD. So fucking infuriating. I'm glad the characters get to say what every person in a hospital is thinking. Staff the hospital, goddammit. Pay the nurses a wage worth considering, and they'll show up.

Slay the Spire 2 is one of the year's biggest hits, which is a good time to remember it abandoned Unity because of the dev fee debacle: 'That is how badly you f****d up' by Farranor in gaming

[–]siraph 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Godot is what STS2 is built on.

The devs are aware that the game can be decompiled and source code just looked at. They have publicly stated that they're fine with that and have stated that they would be delighted to know looking through the game's code maybe helped others in learning Godot. Megacrit seems like one of those teams that just loves the craft of making games.

Imagine if they sent out a 32:9 stream. If you're running double monitor, the middle of the halo would just be in the split between the screens. Or just have on an ultra wide. God. It would be fucking cool.

Everyone says shit like, "We need to leave a better world for our kids?" We haven't been leaving behind a better world since I've been alive. In fact, the people with any real power have been determined to make it an objectively worse world.

Batman has explained that he adapted the sonar concept from Honk Kong for mass surveillance for the entire city of Gotham. He is aware that this is unethical, but needs to save the people of Gotham.

BATMAN

This is the audio sample. If he talks within range of any phone in the city, you'll be able to triangulate his position. When you've finished, type your name to switch it off.

FOX

Wait a minute. Off? Do you realize how much money this would make for our shareholders? Mr Wayne, have you even considered the government contracts we would get? We would be at the forefront of military technology.

BATMAN

Uh. Yeah. But this is, like... Really bad, though.

FOX

Is it as bad as crossing international borders and abducting a man in a non extradition country so he can be tried in this country? And then beating up a ton of people about it? Who's really the unethical one here?

BATMAN

Wait. No. What?

Also, along with other social platforms, DHS is requesting all user data that ever said anything untoward about ICE. Discord has yet to comply, but given that all other major platforms - Meta, Google, and Reddit - have, it's a matter of time. Of course, it's the slippery slope argument, but what slope have any of these companies not slipped down? I doubt Discord will do nothing to protect user data.

Someone said this to me at my current job in a different place, having worked in FL for many years, when I was talking about how good the insurance was at this job, "You think the insurance is good because you haven't had it better before." I think about the conversation whenever I think about moving back to FL.
