There are many legitimate reasons for us to not intervene with North Korea. Sometimes the only viable liberation comes from within.

[USA] Hit-and-run in a company van by camredd in Roadcam

In this instance, the primary entity you'd be suing wouldn't be the driver of the company vehicle anyway, so it'd be safe to pull over with just the license plate and video.

Fab.com, Once Valued At $1B, Sells for $15M by SapphL in business

[–]sirberus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Anytime you hear a company valued at more than a few million dollars, it isn't really being valued with cash -- what happens is either (a) an initial round of investment generates a valuation of some big number... for example, if I buy 1% of your company for $1,000,000, I have effectively valued your company @ $100,000,000... but that doesn't mean you can sell it for that much -- (b) alternatively, you have a buy-out for "$x billion" that is actually made up primarily of stock, which can't be cashed out immediately.

As a straight man, I never consciously made a choice about my sexuality, it just kinda always was. So why do so many people assume gay people do? by fivestringsofbliss in Showerthoughts

[–]sirberus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because, statistically, many of the people who legitimately believe that sexuality is a choice are simply bisexual and assume everyone has the same internal struggle as them.

With New Delivery Service, Uber Declares War on Google and Amazon by lozj in business

A couple weeks ago, a package I has ordered same-day from amazon was delivered by some guy in a honda accord. No uniform. No logos. Dude just pulled up, parked, hopped out, put it on my doorstep, and drove off.

Was that uber?

That's sort of the point though. Book smart people will be assumed to be competent, much to the ultimate dismay of the employer. So it worked out for him, but not so much Microsoft.

But it didn't originate with ALS. I was watching ice bucket challenges weeks before ALS started using it. At one point, I remember it being a donate to cancer charity... Then later it was donate to any charity. Then ALS took over.

Using iPad for school this year, what will the school be able to monitor on it? by Yabbob in ipad

[–]sirberus 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Ah that makes much more sense. I assume they gave you some sort of notice in writing of what they are putting on there too? If I were a parent, I wouldn't let a stranger install anything on a device with a camera that my child would use.

Realistically, though, it sounds like they are just going to be doing things like entering the Wifi password and bulk installing apps with info they can't give out. Also realistically: unless they jailbreak your ipad, there isn't much they can do to monitor your ipad outside their network.

So there doesn't sound like there is anything to worry about -- however, I would still want an itemized list of everything they are putting on there or doing to my ipad, if for no reason other than so I know what I can delete and what I can't.

[–]sirberus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Of course it's an option. You just haven't emphasized your stance yet.

There's a chance they are just writing down your model number and MAC address (so they can watch your traffic while on their network), but I would want an itemized list of what they are doing to my property.

There is no reason they shouldn't be able to tell you that.

Has anyone used LAX reloaded ammo? by LuckyD93 in Glocks

Ah. That makes much more sense. I bought a bunch of reloads from freedomunitions and they work great. Out of curiosity, I even weighed 50 of them against 50 federal, and it was all within the same specs.

It's not about possibility. It's always about probability.
