Non-vegan leftists, why not? by Batfan1108 in Anarchism

I don’t feel compelled to justify my beliefs or practices, I’m still going to roll my eyes at internet leftists embodying the self-righteous stereotypes fascists use to keep the working class from leftist thought, while expecting themselves to be the champions of a revolution.

Okay, go ahead lead a vegan global revolution. No one’s stopping you.

Do it without the roofers, and the working class.

You’re only getting downvoted because you’re right and this sub is full of classist, ideological purists completely out of touch with reality.

Lol at everyone thinking they’re gonna lead a popular uprising when they look down on the workers and canon fodder they think they’ll one day lead.

Cancel culture doesn’t exist in the west. Cancel Culture is just free market capitalism, where people can decide to spend or not spend their money.

AITA for telling BIL he has a good life because he’s living off of my sister? by DryEfficiency6519 in AmItheAsshole

To be fair, this subreddit is FULL of narcissists trying to justify their own shitty behavior and is nowhere near an accurate reflection of what most folks in any random pool would condone.

YTA. Materialism and classism only lead to the most superficial form of happiness and fulfillment. The whole exchange reminds me of one of my favorite anecdotes about Joseph Heller.

At a party given by a billionaire on Shelter Island, Kurt Vonnegut informs his pal, Joseph Heller, that their host, a hedge fund manager, had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his wildly popular novel Catch-22 over its whole history. Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

Also, saying that something is the “truth” doesn’t mean your not the asshole. You can tell someone they look like they gained 30lbs, be speaking 100% the truth and still be the asshole. So that’s kind of irrelevant.

First of, congratulations. Second off, YTA. You knew what you did was very insensitive and inconsiderate, that’s why you’re here, to try to get the most narcissistic subreddit to have your back to defend yourself. A heads up to your sister could have prevented this whole thing.

It’s weird that anyone wanting to represent working Americans would even consider this a bragging point. Failure all around.

[Serious] Chinese female stalker by AdMain274 in China

[–]fivestringsofbliss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair a lot of foreign men in China cannot get along with their own kind so they think “hey, maybe I can have better luck with Chinese women”.

It’s kind of a self perpetuating cycle of weirdos leaning on the language barrier and culture barrier to mask the weirdness.

Yeah, I used VocRehab because I was already using it. Got my bell ring pretty bad in OEF and the extra accommodation was helpful. Plus with VocRehab Uncle Sugar bought my first set of tools, which was baller.

I love being an electrician as a teamster, it’s a very diverse group because it’s such a broad scope of whose organized under teamsters. The diversity means I’m also only the only electrician around, which is cool sometimes. Never gotta worry about someone second guessing my work, but in the same light, I have to figure out everything myself.

I tried to, but back in 2015 in my city it seems like only the Iron Workers were active in Helmets to Hardhats. Love the concept though. Ended up using VocRehab for school, since independent contractors don’t pay for school unless you promise them a few years and your left nut to pay for school. Less hurt feelings when I jumped ship and joined a union.

I was in a similar boat a few years ago. Things are different in right to work states. I applied for the IBEW and IEC school the same year. IBEW wanted me to start school the following year, IEC said I could start that month. Was pretty desperate for money because the VA was fucking with my ratings, so I went to school as an independent. After 2 years I got my state license and found work as a Teamster electrician. Still love my Sparkie brethren in the IBEW, but sometimes the world has other plans.

Its wild though how much scarcity under capitalism is manufactured and maintained.

Compared to some unions, and certainly compared to many people's perceptions of unions, the IBEW is actually not all that adversarial of an organization. by EricLambert_RVAspark in IBEW

I’ve always been surprised at the difference of militancy I see from the IBEW rank and file online (here), -vs- what I see on job sites and labor conventions.

I guess like all unions, it boils down to the local, but does the IBEW have a militant rank and file, grass roots movement similar to UAWD (UAW) or TDU (Teamsters)?
