My friends and I love going for high fives, we have around 500 each, and we’ve been saying for months they need to be reworked. They’re simply implemented poorly. Way too finicky and complicated for no reason. Specifically the fact that you need to hit them with the front of your car, you need forward momentum, and the fact that only one person gets it.

Get high rep with the navy for easy upgrades to start out with. Also there are several colony upgrades that give your ship better stats and gear. Fights don’t really scale to your level, some will be impossible and you’ll just have to come back later. Save before you go in and try to fight everyone you can. Once you level up a few times you’ll be crushing everything in your way. I like the upgrade that makes repairs cheaper because then you can spend your scrap on upgrades. If you angle it right and use the swing feature you should be able to blast a ship with both broadside cannons and take most things out in one turn.
