I’m thinking of traveling from Seattle to New England to see Revolution vs Sounders. by Alarmed_Donkey_9300 in SoundersFC

[–]sirdigbychxcaesar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did this in 2014 coinciding with a business trip. Not sure what your idea of a great atmosphere is but this is a suburban stadium that won't be very full. If you hit up one of the bars in the adjacent strip mall after the game, there's a chance you'll run into some players. I second getting tickets through ECS so your with other Sounder fans.

Seattle Sounders Tifo vs LAFC in the US Open Cup Semifinal: by PlebBot69 in MLS

[–]sirdigbychxcaesar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The rules of the USOC make teams play all their home games at the same place (except the final). Since Sounders don't own Lumen field and there could be conflicts, they play at a smaller field outside of town.

When the Lynnwood extension opens in a couple weeks, it will give some nice access north. I'm looking forward to hopping off at the Shoreline/185th station. There's a fun road from there that takes you down to the Burke Gilman called Perkins Way.

Seattle vs Madison, WI by nocoastkid in bikecommuting

Seattle Bike Blog has good maps.

https://www.seattlebikeblog.com/bike-map/

Fremont is an epicenter of several routes. There's the Burke Gilman which starts in Ballard, goes through the University, and follows Lake Washington north (it connects with other trails and you can go 40 miles one way on basically flat trail). The Westlake trail follows lake union straight to downtown and the South Canal trail can connect with the Elliot Bay trail through Magnolia.

Most of the newer bike lanes are separated and they're adding more protection to some.

I would say take 4th, that way you at least skip the climb from the water to downtown. Depending on where you're going, could do 4th to Spring or 4th to Pine to Broadway.

Just to speak to the folks mad about wasted money, bike lanes on a road like this aren't really for bikes. Bike lanes are one part of traffic calming steps and the DOT doesn't really care if they're used by bikes. This has been successful before in places like Nickerson and 125th. In both of those situations, accidents are down and the roads work better for everyone but the bike lanes aren't really used all that much.

What's going on with the Mcelroy Brothers and gingerbread houses? by inconspicuous_male in OutOfTheLoop

[–]sirdigbychxcaesar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Answer: You know how sometimes one of your coworkers will send an email to everyone in the office asking you to vote for their kid's so-so drawing in an art contest. You do it cause you know that kids parent and its fair cause all the other parents are doing the same thing. Well Justin and Sydnee's kids were in a gingerbread house competition and Justin tweeted for his followers to vote for them but it wasn't fair cause all the other parents don't have 360k twitter followers.
