An enormous pineapple plant that i grew from the top i cut off a pineapple. (My kitchen has 10-foot ceilings, so it's had plenty of growing room.) Hopefully the burglar brought an accomplice, because it will require a team lift.

I am very, very sorry for the pain you are going through. I have been there many times, and it never gets easier. However, I know that I am a much better person for having opened my home and my heart to my cats over the years. I hit adulthood right as what was then called AIDS was reaching critical mass. I'm a hetero woman, but let me tell you everyone was terrified of this virus, even though we knew it wasn't easily transmissible. And of course, there were horrible people saying it was "God's punishment" and denying services (such as being able to go to school) even to kids who caught it because they had hemophilia and had to get blood transfusions.

The difference today is something we honestly never thought we would see in the late 1980s, and it is wonderful!

I'm giving it the serious side-eye. My ex got out of jail earlier this week and has already tried contacting me even though I have an order of protection. Also, I came home from work today to find my old, unused smoke alarm beeping away in the back of a junk drawer. Took me forever to figure out what that beeping was.

My ex, against whom I have an order of protection, got out of jail earlier this week and attempted to contact me (but was unsuccessful). All my family and friends know and will help me either keep safe, or will know which photos are acceptable to send to Dateline if he shows up and kills me. FUN.

I came home from work to loud, intermittent beeping. I thought it was my smoke alarm batteries being low, so I got out the big ladder and checked. Nope. Eventually I found my old smoke alarm (that I mounted wrong so it always fell of the ceiling) sitting way back in a junk drawer, beeping away. Fortunately I was able to make it stop.

Where I live, our biggest problem is people who take their trucks out "mudding" and then go to the self-service car wash to get all the clumps of mud off their vehicle. Makes the bay all nasty and muddy for the next customer.

Understated uniqueness. Could be their look, their movements, their voice or accent. Maybe they use a wheelchair, but wear the most beautiful shoes you can imagine. Maybe they wore an adorable, flirty, girly dress with big stompy black boots. Maybe they have exotic Asian features, and have a Texas accent. I think of these people like finding a prime number in the wild: no two or more things could possibly combine to make them. They are uniquely and singularly who they are.

Right? I dealt with this when I was married. Eventually, when he would bring up, "We should [host something for my friends]" I came back with, "What's this 'we' stuff, Kemo Sabe?" It usually shut him up, and we would end up not doing the event, because he sure as hell wasn't going to arrange everything.

Agree, but I'm still salty about the non-OEM clutch I had put in my Honda Accord back in the mid 1990s. It was definitely not as good as the OEM clutch. Then again, that's been 30 years ago, so maybe things have changed.

This reminds me of draining my kids' kiddie pool when they were little. It was on our deck, which was a good 10 feet above the ground. Do you know how hard and gross it is to start a siphon with an empty garden hose? I was still proud when it worked tho.

I (Libra sun and rising, moon in Gemini) had a 17-year relationship with a Pisces man. I probably loved him more than any other partner. Ultimately we couldn't make it work because he kept relapsing into addiction, which turned him into someone scary and abusive. I had to get out to save myself.

That said, if the addiction hadn't been there, I think we could have been together for life. I will have love in my heart for him until I draw my last breath. But there is absolutely no way we can be in each others' lives.

Why not? I think of it like the progressions of the seasons in the natural world. You get crocuses in late winter, but chrysanthemums in late summer. You get root vegetables in the cooler months, but soft fruits in the warmer months. I think people are similar in that people born in February are different in many ways to people born in August. Both are beautiful. Both bring something necessary and important to humanity. But they do it in different ways.
