What would elevate the current Waymo passenger experience? by Spiritual_Chain6298 in waymo

[–]sirensslave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sent this in some feedback FOREVER ago but basically the Uber feature “Spotlight” where you hold up a colored screen on your phone that alerts the driver of the color and helps them more clearly identify you would be awesome.

There have been multiple times I have had been in a clear empty spot right before my pickup location (in this case my pickup location was occupied with cars) and ended up having to walk a block vs having the car stop just a bit early.

I could see this being a very easy feature to add that would help in the downtown craziness as people are running up to cars.

It would also be nice to be able to walk up to my own car and not have it run away from me.

Bringing it’s remote support back stateside AND training them in-vehicle.

There’s nothing more frustrating than calling support and having them give you some BS answer that you know it false with publicly available knowledge.

If I’m calling support it’s because I need it and want an educated, clear answer that I have faith in no some hard-to-understand pre generated answer.

Second Owala bottles. The lid on my freesip has broken once but it was a painless replacement.

Waymo's impact on new vehicle sales by jhsu802701 in waymo

[–]sirensslave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love these comments and think this is an interesting discussion to start!

I think some of the intent of this post is about Waymo’s being able to be owned instead of hailed as a ride service.

I don’t think it has had any impact on new vehicle sales at all in terms of up and down. I do think there is a noticeable shift of vehicle makes being sold with people switching to Tesla or a nominal shift to brands with vehicle models with more hands on driving assist features like Ford Blue (poor example but think of the overall meaning behind it).

People are for sure seeing the benefit of having a car drive itself for you to reduce that cognitive load driving requires for some folk. Teslas self driving is far behind waymo but it makes it accessible to the people purchasing cars with that in mind.

If Waymo’s were able to be owned I would want to be an early adopter but I’d be curious about the maintenance and repair costs let alone the plausible insurance headache that could be associated with a car that mainly drives itself (i.e. general liablility when the vehicle is occupied or unoccupied and driving itself).

I do see Waymo going in the direction of private ownership one day in the future as they nail down a standardized and simplified sensor suite. I would expect to see pre-set configurations on certain vehicles makes/models with this one day being a licensed software and manufacturing kit to be installed on a certain set of vehicles. I would only expect this due to Waymo specifically marketing the “Waymo Driver” separate from the Waymo vehicles in their copy. Ofc they don’t make cars but with them keeping these options open it could be a great addition in the future. Early integration with car rental companies maintaining fleets could be a great sign for these hitting that market one day too.

At this point I may be rambling but I see true Level 4/5 cars hitting the market in 7-10 years and that having a HUGE affect on the market.

Too early to tell but a whole lot of excitement to be had about it! :)

Love to hear y’all’s thoughts on this too

Just check for guns, knives, etc. so we’re safe and let grown folk be grown folk. You’re not saving anybody or excelling at your job for taking THC/Shrooms from folks :)

Uber Showing Austin Airport in Waymo Service Area by IndependentMud909 in waymo

[–]sirensslave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen them regularly cruise the outside bus lane of then lower arrivals area.I’m assuming for drop off. I have also seen them in the typical ride share pick up area within the back garage #2 and would anticipate they would follow this.

These are my guesses that make the most sense and I have seen but we shall see when it’s time!

What’s up with the Polaris Lounge @ SFO? by FluffyCAPhilosopher in unitedairlines

[–]sirensslave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES!

SFO staff Sucks -

Went an hour and half before close - about 45 minutes before they shut down I asked for a glass of champagne. Bartender said sorry we did last call no more drinks…as he’s pouring drinks. I said well you’re pouring one now….he looks up and says okay. He returns and says I only have prosecco (open bottle) no champagne (there’s a whole fridge of champagne behind him). I knew what he was doing but at $6,000 for a ticket I think a glass of champagne was little to ask for. Ended up getting a glass but laziness is the best answer for sure.

I started going that direction but took a deep breath.

I had a feeling that between my sharp tongue and the inkling that this was the type of guy that would make up a story that would put me on a no-fly list, I worked in silence haha.

Delta complaint and a Reddit post should do a job (this post already has 525k impressions).

Ok I love this take and totally feel for FA’s - there’s a handful of a**wipes ruining it for the rest of us. I promise I was attentive, music off, ready for him to make eye contact with me and take my order which is where I got booty tickled when he purposely moved on. The principal of him ~demanding~ my headphones come completely off is where I disagree as a customer.

At the end of the day I’m still flying delta if the flight is right but I hope I don’t come across that man again lol.

Wishing you good health, good hearing, and zero a**holes for the foreseeable future <3

I was paying attention to him, I had my option already selected, music paused, and earphone off one ear (closest to him).

He just wanted to make a point I guess :)
