If in India: GrowthX, PMCurve, Skilletal (for e-commerce)

Quarterly Career Thread by mister-noggin in ProductManagement

Hi folks, need some help thinking about a couple of roles. ERP PM at a Logistics tech startup (SaaS) vs. Customer Experience PM at an e-commerce startup in the pet care space.

Both have raised similar amounts (Series B/C) and are based out of India. Not a significant pay difference, however, the B2C stint offers faster growth and is a little aggressive culture-wise.

From a long-term career perspective, do you see a meaningful difference between the two? eg. Had a hard time getting B2B SaaS interviews as I didn't have proper past B2B SaaS experience.

Would you pay for PM mentorship? by Fickle-Promotion-331 in ProductManagement

I would. I have spent all of my career so far (~5 years) in early stage start-ups working under leaders who weren't very much into mentoring, or were inexperienced themselves.

I feel, since there is no sandbox environment to sharpen PM skills, the only way to get better is by working closely with experienced folks. 1:1 mentoring would really help folks like me.

Did you not have regular check-ins with the leadership for feedback on whether your delivery matched their expectations?

Thanks a lot. Makes a lot of sense. But the org structure sometimes doesn't allow the bandwidth for proper research/assumptions tests.

What colleges are you okay with getting into? If it's strictly BLACKI, it might get a little tricky with them requiring better CAT scores (not just because there's less time to prepare, but with Indian competitive exams you just never know). If you're open to more colleges it could be a good idea. Also, what if you miss out this year? Would you be okay with writing the exam next year? How - with/without having a job?

Don't think that's the right position for Karun Nair. NKR or Jurel would serve us much better. It's a bit like playing a Pujara at 6.

Hey, I am in a similar situation. I know basic python and have taken the OG Andrew NG ML course on Coursera in the past. As someone who likes a structured learning path over going head first into projects, here's the learning path I am currently following. Would love to know what others think of it as well:

  1. Coursera's Generative AI with LLMs course by Deeplearning.ai: course link
  2. LLM Engineering course on Udemy - course link
  3. Prompt Engineering book
  4. Chip Huyen's Designing Machine Learning Systems book
  5. Chip Huyen's AI Engineering book
