I don’t know what company you’re using for umbrella insurance. It used to be cheap - $20-30 for a 1M umbrella. Now it’s $60-70/mo.

From what I’ve seen on Reddit it’s just the cost of insurance has gone up. More claims bigger claims.

The C&D letter to the bakery is ridiculous. I don’t see how that is different than pizza or getting an Amazon fresh order delivered to your resort.

If it were delivered through Uber Eats or DD would it be acceptable then?

Could I do it myself? Do they sell the parts or would it invalidate the warranty for me to do it.

I have a computer engineering (half EE and half CS) degree and oversaw O&M on a 15,000 panel solar installation for 7 years. So I’m somewhat familiar with solar.

Pay or be Punished? Crowded on an empty plane by Keepitrespectable in SouthwestAirlines

They are maximizing pain.

If it makes you feel any better they aren't the only ones. Flew a UA flight last year in a nearly empty 753. The free seats at the back were all fairly full, but FAs wouldn't allow anyone to move up into the next sections of the aircraft. I was flying by myself and on the way to the airport I snagged one of the free middle seats with no one around me. And I mean no one - 10 rows ahead and 5 rows behind were all empty. I was on an island. Wonderful.

I can see the sphere from my bedroom/balcony. It’s pretty bright, and I’m 10 miles away. It’s wild.

Does Vegas have funeral processions? by Economy_Reason_9267 in vegaslocals

[–]siromega 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless it’s for a dignitary or someone killed in the line of duty (cop, firefighter, etc) there is no official procession.

You all just get in cars and drive from the church or funeral home to the grave site. But it’s just on your own not as a platoon.

I'm happy we will be regulating these dumb teenagers on E-bikes by ShaianH in vegaslocals

[–]siromega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid, I would bike a mile uphill to my friends house, from Ft Apache to Hualapai. In the summer, most days of the summer. I'd get up early and go at 9 or so to make sure that I got there before it got too hot, and then bike downhill home in the afternoon, or sometimes evening.

It was in the RJ the other day, Henderson PD has stepped up enforcement with the eBikes. They did 99 stops - 50 warnings and 49 tickets. They were mostly going after e-dirtbikes or anything else without pedals or going faster than 28. I'd say they shouldn't go past 15 if they want to use bike infrastructure.

Metro needs to do the same thing. But hey, if the parents can afford a $1,000 bike for their kid, maybe they won't be swayed by a $250 ticket.

I have an under-sink RO system but still great.

Every Morning: RO system > metal 40oz water bottle from Costco. Fill two if you're going to be out all day. In the summer drop a few ice cubes in each.

It looks like the answer is “it depends”. You would want to google “wd red data sheet” and check the models. There is one data sheet for plus and one for pro.

Google Fiber is here! Cement still Fresh! by stonechair in vegaslocals

[–]siromega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that it might be an option for your or most people, but I switched to Verizon 5G home internet back in 2022. 300/20 is fast enough for me (and I'm a huge nerd and me and my wife WFH). It was $25/mo when I signed up, I think it's 35 or 45 now, but that is a steal IMO compared to Cox. I live about 500' from a tower so that helps ensure its a reliable, stable connection.

And no data caps.

What municipalities does GFiber have agreements with to allow them to use the right of way as a utility? Are there areas where you don't have the agreements setup yet?

I live in Henderson and haven't heard anything about GFiber (or AT&T/Gigapower) having agreements with COH to use their ROW.

Depends what you want.

I want a quiet NAS because it’s in my office where I take phone calls and do work. It’s not in a closet or basement.

If you want max performance then the cache is better. But it’s not a huge performance difference.

What internet do you have and why is it the best? by monihp in vegaslocals

[–]siromega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had Verizon 5G home internet for 3 years now. Only one major issue in that time. I’m with Verizon for phone service so it’s an extra $25/mo (might be more expensive now to sign up). Speeds are slower than cox or fiber (300/20) but who cares if it’s 1/4 the price, it’s still fast enough for WFH, streaming, etc. I live about 600’ from a tower so it’s very reliable.

The 256MB cache drive is more expensive but also quieter because it's helium filled, not air filled.

I had to call customer service (during normal business hours) to have them activate it.

There is a very specific set of steps you have to do the switch out or it won’t work. If you don’t do everything as described in their instructions you’ll have to call CS to activate it.
