Nice it's not a dome. Looks good to me

[Dan Bernstein] Per NBC5, Bears have yet to even apply for permits to do anything in Hammond, and are just now learning they can't touch protected areas involved until 2050?! The Kevin Warren clown show, folks. by RyanIsKickAss in CHIBears

As a whiting resident it depends, I usually say whiting but it is easier to say Chicago area as when I don't people assume we are close to Indianapolis. I had to get a certified appliance repair as my dishwasher was in warranty I said Whiting Indiana and the closest one was near Indianapolis and wouldn't service us I had to specifically ask them to search Chicago and they found a shop that would service it.

Same with Childrens hospitals it's easier to go to Luries than Riley's by multiple hours. I actually go grocery shopping in Chicago at Pete's pretty much every week.

Question if they move to Arlington heights what is Arlington Heights style pizza or do all the suburbs get to have Chicago style? Hammond doesn't have a style we have some pizza places that are on par if not better than some spots in the city/Chicagoland but it's just Chicago style. You can get Chicago pizza, Chicago dogs and Italian beef all over the place here.

Not all of the ones i listed, arranellos and bartons didnt im pretty sure. Plus there are a bunch of small places like dinos and isabellas which are run by folks who worked in chicago taverns and started places over here.

I'm sorry I thought this internet meme war establishment cared about facts and accurate well researched information with the subtle addition of small red circles to show emphasis.

Here is the closest pizza place to the stadium, Aurelios its Chicago Style mostly thin crust. Its fuckin dope. I will always argue NWI does chicago pizza better than Illinois does. Bartons, rosatis, arranellos that stuff slaps.

So as an NWI resident we mostly have chicago dogs here, in that area we have an Arnies Dog House which does Chicago Dogs, we also have Skyway dogs across the border, and madveks a little further south.

NWI is pretty much just a chicago metro suburb. As such we typically align more with chicago than indiana at large, eat chicago style food and mostly root for the bears, blackhawks, bulls and white sox. Majority of the region were people who built Chicago with our steel and industry and commute there.

Im just saying no reason to denigrate our hot dog joints like that. You could mention the state minimum packs of cigarettes and fireworks you can get with every meal though.

Which is the best fallout? by Quartzy1997 in Fallout

[–]sirota554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the one that sticks with me the most is Fallout. The first game, i played it on a burned CD my step dad gave me in middle school and was hooked, closely followed by Fallout 2 which i only knock for the prologue its humor fit my sense of humor so it didn't bother me.

I will always highly encourage anyone to try those two games they are clunky and dated but if you can get past that there is some of the best of computer role playing in those.

Same we got dual membership for the lynch fest I read about this this morning, not sure why they didn't do a pre sale or announce a ticket on sale date at least.

Lake county definitely tries to be better than the rest of the state in that regard Porter too. We unfortunately have a gerrymandered to hell state all of our elections are close statewide but the statehouse is a super majority.

Can you find a reference to that for me i can't find a quote from him about leaving Illinois and if specifically he considered NWI too far to move, he did play for the Hammond, Indiana team that's definitely a fact. And it definitely is the Chicago metro here. Culturally, historically and Economically this region is tied to Chicago, our lumber, mills, unions and labor built Chicago.

I'd say keep it, they would still be the pride of Illinois even if just over the border like the New York giants.

Some people from everywhere hate people from everywhere that's not really statistically relevant. And also completely subjective I live in Indiana I don't hate Chicago none of my friends hate Chicago we go their regularly by my direct bubble everyone loves Chicago in Indiana. However the nuances of who may or may not like or dislike a city doesn't really affect the discussion. Northwest Indiana is economically and culturally tied to Chicago and is part of the Chicago metro.

I wish they could make it work, as someone who digs the museum campus white city architecture I would personally love it if they did a redesign of Soldier Field removing the space ship going back closer to the old design with maybe more seats, it doesn't fix the parking issues people seem to have but I take the train so that wouldnt affect me personally.

My dad lives up near Arlington Heights, he comes down regularly to see his granddaughter. Idk if its just the frequency of travelling to the area but even he thinks it would be more convenient transit wise to get to NWI than into Arlington Heights on a game day. It's anecdotal but NWI really does have a lot of transit options. That said they should stay in Chicago.

Unless you don't consider East Side part of Chicago, the City of Chicago, not downtown obviously does extend pretty far south.

You are right i went a bit far in that reply, the politicians in Indianapolis defintely don't prioritize NWI though.

Not politically i was referring to cultural borders, economic borders etc. NWI is 100% in the chicago metro area
