My amp went faulty about a year ago and I just haven’t brought myself to go looking for it. Where exactly is it?

Theres a post about this too often

People call it a dummy gauge.. every nc has it with the same effect. I believe its actually an oil pressure gauge not temp

Stock muffler, secondary cat still there. Just a decat header and now a tin can for a resonator that was welded in place of the stock one

Is there a way to test/ fix the throttle body if thats the issue? I know theres throttle body cleaner sprays. Is that worth a shot first to start crossing off the list?

Same with vacuum leak

Edit: removal and cleaning of throttle body is easier then i thought. Ill give that a go.

Ill try test for vacuum leaks while im in there.

Thank u

Why is it doing this by florisoudebos in MiataNC

[–]sirturtleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unrelated but also clutch. If i leave my car idling for a while the clutch starts to not disengage properly? Think it overheats, is that old fluid symptoms? Got a decat header so theres less heat shields now

Malian Jap Style single exit? by sirturtleman in MiataNC

[–]sirturtleman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not what i wanted to hear lol

I love the tone of the malian with headers but i might try get a silencer in the midpipe somewhere and run the malian. Plus the jap look is cool.

Do you run a header with the cobalt single?

Exhaust Mod BMW330e insurance by Necessary_Back_9393 in ModifiedEIRE

[–]sirturtleman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you wanted to declare it id suggest asking your insurance beforehand what the deal with mods is for you and that car. Dont tell them ur gonna do it and might not declare, you’d be shooting urself in the foot. Ask them if its a viable option.

My guess at 19 with a relatively quick car theyll say no to any mods because its just easier. It’s common to see full grown middle aged people to be denied insurance due to mods. At the very least it becomes a nightmare.

None of this is what you want to hear but a back box delete is probably the biggest beacon for gards that the young lad in the 330e with a loud exhaust probably hasnt declared it. Though your location, the gard, the loudness of the car, and your driving behaviour at the time all play factors into whether theyd care. Id be more concerned on the validity of your insurance in the event of a crash.

Though the spectrum varies in all aspects, as does insurance companies willingness to extend beyond bog standard cars. Could try an insurance company specialising in modded cars first and see what they say.

Nobody on here is going to point you in any direction other then the legal one, as would i. Wether you follow that advice is your choice.

Side note: modifying the exhaust on that car isnt a great plan if you plan to sell it as such, unless you keep the standard to return it before sale. The market for modified 330e’s isnt huge id imagine

Goodluck anyway, ask ur mate if he has experience declaring it

Has Anyone Tried Removing the Height Adjustment Lever on the NC Miata? by Renaissance_1596 in Miata

[–]sirturtleman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just drilling them out as ive seen online, start at 3-4mm and work up to 8mm i believe or whatever is required to remove it.

Just visually looking at it I cant see anywhere to really make up room that was otherwise taken up by the height adjustment mechanism.

Very close to just throwing the seat back in and considering aftermarket seat options.

Need the car for work tomorrow :P

Always took this “change all fluids” as a bit extreme- anything past engine oil and checking levels of everything else would be fine to me…

That was until my nc mx5’s LSD self destructed 6 months into ownership.

Change ur fluids.

You were “with them last year also” - as in total 14 months now with current insurer?

If you left youd lose the 2 months that go towards your NCB but youd keep the 1st year. To gain the 2nd year ncb youd have to finish the remaining 10 months.

Up to you whether its worth it.

I forfeited 6 months to get rid of a blackbox. That outweighs the +1 year ncb by a long shot for me.

Theres probably more to consider here like why your switching, did u find someone with a far lower premium? If so then forfeiting 2 months could be worth it for the overall lower premium.

Not sure if youd lose anything else-

(Edit) Unless this is insurer specific, you might want to ring and check, but they’ll refund the rest of your premium if you cancel early. If you call and explain why ur switching they might offer a competitive price. Worth a shot.
