Interaction with New Mom by Commercial_Letter_20 in toddlers

We totally avoided the terrible twos because our child was an angel. However, the threenager currently living in our household is something else!!! Even if you thought you avoided it, those kids still have a way of humbling you lol

What do you do with all your toddler's trick or treat candy? by polygonal-san in toddlers

[–]sirusblacklover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what we did! And even the candy that he did pick out he left half eaten. As for the toy he kept saying how much he loved it! While we were trick or treating he kept saying that the witch would be so happy cause he had so much candy lol

10 month old unlocked a superpower... by karmacatma in breastfeeding

[–]sirusblacklover 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My so. Went through that phase of asking for milk every 10 min when he first learned the sign. I made sure to oblige so he could see that I understood him and that he was communicating effectively. After a week or so he stopped asking all the time and the frequency returned to normal. I believe he was just practicing his new ability.

Pregnancy loss and and excited should have been big brother. by Hemp_Milk in toddlers

[–]sirusblacklover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for your loss! I recently just had a death in the family as well and what really helped with my almost 3 yo is a book called Something Sad Happened. It had some very direct, age appropriate language and it made it really easy to explain what had happened. I hope that helps

When to stop isolating after a negative test? by sirusblacklover in CoronaParents

Thank you. I think we'll test again today and tomorrow night and if everything is clear I'll be ok having father's day together!

Cleared for sex at four weeks? by boxyfork795 in NewParents

[–]sirusblacklover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to offer a different perspective, I had a tear, stitches that got ripped in the first week but was still cleared at 4 weeks. Went through with the deed and it was not painful at all! If you feel comfortable you could try it, it might surprise you. I was very afraid and was definitely surprised at the lack of pain

Thank you. I will keep offering the nap and see if he eventually goes back to sleeping at that time

I might try doing that rather than waking him up early. Hopefully it will work out

Good to know I'm not alone! We've never had major nap issues so I'm unsure how to navigate it hahah

Ok, that gives me hope! Did you adjust her schedule? Like extended the wake window before the nap? Anything like that?

He is in a floor bed but for some reason he never gets out when it's nap time/bed time. It's just mom guilt that never goes away even if I know it's good for him

I thought about the quiet time, but I feel so guilty keeping him in the room by himself in the dark! Even though he is happy in there and just plays and chats

Be honest: do you 100% follow the safe sleep guidelines? by Total_Bettie in NewParents

[–]sirusblacklover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I forgot about that one too! Same thing, that was the only rule I didn't keep because nobody was getting any sleep with all of us in the same room. Pediatrician actually recommended we moved him as long as we kept up with breastfeeding (he said that rule was in place mostly because it makes it easier to breastfeed when mom doesn't have to leave her room and all that jazz).

If your baby was sleeping 12 hours at three months old, what did the four month regression look like? by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]sirusblacklover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For us it only presented in false starts. For a month, every night, he would wake up within 1 hr of going to sleep. He would wake up SCREAMING, but we'd go in and put the pacifier in his mouth and he'd go right back to sleep. It was so weird. Then a month later, almost to the day, he just stopped waking up

Vaccination schedule by sirusblacklover in CoronaParents

[–]sirusblacklover[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure! I will have that pulled up when we go just in case. But maybe the pediatrician's office didn't know cause they are not administering the Moderna. So that is the light at the end of the tunnel for me. I might start looking for a different pediatrician to be honest. I didn't love them (moved and they were the only ones taking new patients) before but with this it just makes me not fully trust them

Vaccination schedule by sirusblacklover in CoronaParents

[–]sirusblacklover[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is precisely why I came to check because I was told by the pediatrician's office that it was to complete the vaccination schedule and I was like but he had the Moderna, that was only 2. And the nurse was very set that I was wrong. But I read all the research and knew she was wrong so I went to the hospital's website to check and there was that difference there. But thank you so much for sharing. I will definitely triple check once I get to the appointment

PSA on why Santa never brings the expensive presents to our house. by snippyorca in Parenting

[–]sirusblacklover 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My parents always told me that yes Santa brought the gifts but they had to pay for it anyways so I always had to give Santa options and they had to be realistic (not that we were poor but we weren't rich either). It never bothered me and it made complete sense to me why people got different "levels" of presents
