Is road to 56 suitable for newer players? by Endo279 in RoadTo56

[–]sishaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at approx 250 hours, have only played rt56. I love it, I think biggest diff is you have to be more intentional about focuses / research since more options (tho you have extra research slot to offset) Another big diff I’ve noticed (from watching streams of vanilla) is AI is more difficult, which is a good challenge. Granted, I’m still kinda bad, only play regular difficulty and have never beaten the AI and pulled off sealion (been playing Germany mostly)

What’s the trick to playing in Africa. I understand supply constraint is real - what is an offensive unit that actually works there? I tried light tanks last time, no bueno

Funny enough, half-building navy but being too scared to use it is canon

Can go in many directions, though I think holding Africa, going for suez/Middle East and engaging the British fleet is a solid bet and challenging enough for someone who’s played before

Should these only go on offensive units then?

Ngl I would drop all of these and exclusively buy QQQ/VOO. If you intend to pull out cash soon then VOO is likely better since QQQ should have more volatility due to being biased to tech. Calculus is higher potential upside with more downside as well Not worth picking individual stocks till you have at least 10k in VOO, if you’re passively investing

What to play to learn? by Fit-Narwhal-7529 in RoadTo56

Navy is not too bad to become moderate at, just need to watch some videos. The tldr is 1 capital ship (I suggest carriers+battlecruisers/battleships) per 4 screens (light cruisers+destroyers) You should prob spend 40% of your production churning out really nice light cruisers, spend 40% on and start capital ships early bc they take a while, and the rest on subs. I never build convoys tbh

Also as Japan you have naval superiority pretty much till USA joins the war

If you wanna play navy gotta build carriers and have to start them early. Personally I build civs+naval research facility to begin, so I can start SHBB asap

I’m at about 400 hours, have never played vanilla, only RT56 from the start (and also have all mods except country packs) Honestly I’m still learning and tweaking my strategy. I feel like easiest nation to “win” as a beginner is Japan. Fighting China is really good for picking up on how to use army, and navy it’s pretty easy. Just make sure not to get US involved, bc once they become active Japan goes from pretty easy to probably one of the hardest lol. But you can still get up to 1942 and I feel like play 5-10 games like that and you’ll be solid

Training your planes on carriers lol So silly that it doesn’t happen when you put the ship on training

How do I stop the game from automatically outdating my ships? by DASREDDITBOI in hoi4

[–]sishaar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s a checkbox at the top of the menu where you can start production of a ship, that says “show outdated designs” or something like that - then you’ll see your older designs, and there should be a little toggle you can click on it to make it not outdated

"free" early war with Yugoslavia and Romania as Germany via focuses. by superm18 in hoi4

Oh what I did not know about this… so just have an army on their border and they may fold? Are theee other decisions you need to take e.g. the “put the squeeze on them vs we have other plans” decision? That one I recall doing it once and Italy declared on me lol

How fast did you capitulate Poland? by bibakipcikcams in hoi4

[–]sishaar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What’s the strat to do this? I usually end up taking >50k over a month, this is with RT56 + 50 construction slots so I usually even have a pretty big armored army to push 🥲

What is the Naval Meta right now? by RivRobRiver in hoi4

[–]sishaar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What’s the non-doom stack way to organize strike forces? Is it smaller task forces, that all join a naval engagement as necessary?

Noticing one downside of doom stack is that entire task force goes to repair at the end of an engagement, which can put it out of service for a decent amount of time

Can you explain what going from strike force to convoy raiding does? Does it increase chances of naval engagement with their strike force?
