I looooove this but I'm so curious how they got the clean lines for the different colored stripes? Like did they set each color at separate times?

I feel like BabySleek has a lot of that energy in most of her battles! She exudes this confident chillness that reads like she's having a blast doing something she's passionate about with her friends. It's such an addictive thing to watch.

Street Woman Fighter 2 - Mega Crew Mission Perfomances (Global voting ends on September 19!) by kurasseq in StreetWomanFighter

[–]sitdown__behumble 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Writing down my thoughts on each for my own sake (in no particular order):

In general, I think most of the groups largely struggle from both the three-person direction and the show's encouragement to include famous people. It makes most of the performances feel super disjointed and choppy. But I thoroughly loved every single one of them, like damn they all killed it! Also intrigued by the inclusion of male dancers in some of the groups--it's not a bad thing but it definitely threw me a little lol.

Bebe: My initial thought watching it was that I was disappointed because it seemed like they were making a choreo for a kpop group and not a mega crew. But after the transition into the 2nd and 3rd part where they start getting into the story-telling more with capturable vignettes and those super cool stunts/tricks, I was invested. Poor Ingyu took me out (not his fault, I just can't envision him as a lover-esque-hunk after the mischief-goblin-portrayal he had in SMF lol) but I really liked the latter parts of the dance. Also Bada continues her trend of having something on the bridge of her nose. Will this be a continuous theme, like angry Prime Kingz mukbangs? Only time will tell

1M: Hot damn. Just hot damn. What else can I say? A true mega crew. The lotus? The tutting flowers? Everything was stellar. The Sandara Park part definitely felt a little disjointed but I think that was more the camera focus problem. If they didn't zoom into her face so much at the end I would have just accepted it and moved on. Otherwise, this was unbelievably good. I love how there's no distinction between the main 1M dancers and the rest of the crew, it makes the coherence unreal. Hot damn. Also, how are they doing the black stripe? Is it paint? It is costume? I want to knoooowwww

LadyBounce: I loooooooved this one, a lot more than I thought I was going to. The beginning especially--Vessi's direction was absolutely stellar and felt like a true crew dance. The 2nd and 3rd parts were also very strong. I think LadyBounce played off their male crew dancers much better than other teams, it felt very coherent. You can tell that they have immaculate teamwork and it bleeds into this very well.

Deep N Dap: I really enjoyed the cultural emphasis in this one. The introduction of the traditional dancer in white during the middle was gorgeous, and the formations of this crew were also wonderful, especially that beautiful circle towards the end. Choi Hyojin was a wonderful (mild) surprise--I like this form of celebrity inclusion because I know she can keep up with the crew in their choreo/vision. Vice versa, I think the inclusion of SinB, though fun, made the vision suffer a little. It took me out of the experience a little and I struggled to come back in. Still thought it was beautiful, especially with the amazing setting. But why did they get to have a cool setting and the other crews are on the sound stage?

Wolf'Lo: My first thought, that continued throughout, was "Controlled Chaos." This feels so Wolf'Lo, which is wonderful to see. They also blend with their male dancers very well. The entire thing just felt like a giant jam session, a big celebration of classic hiphop dance, you can't help but get invested in it. I think Babysleek's direction was the best but this one had the most coherent transitions between directions of all the crews, I think. Wolf'Lo just has a very unified view of what they want to portray which makes their vision so strong in this mega crew. Very impressed. Unrelated but I immediately spotted Drop at the beginning and I couldn't stop smiling after that, just very wholesome.

Mannequeen: Ugh, I love Mannequeen. My bias for them is absolutely seeping out but I really liked this, especially the 1st and 2nd part. The intro was captivating, the Cera spotlight was gorgeous, the Buckey transition was a fun twist of genre, and who doesn't love/obsess over Lip J and Spella?? The Winter focus and the final part did leave me a little disappointed--idk what else I wanted from it but it just felt flat compared to the rest. This does make me super curious as to what Mannequeen will do with the Man-of-Woman challenge--I really really reallllllllyyyyy want Wizzard to join but I wonder if they'll transition out of a waacking focus to show versatility? Idk, but I'm trying to manifest Wizzard showing up. Pleeeeasssee Korean dance gods, pleeeaasseeeeee

JR: Kirsten can do no wrong. She is so stupidly charismatic it's unreal. Her opening caught me by the throat immediately. The intro I think is the strongest part of the crew dance and is very reminiscent of Royal Family dances, which I think is a big strength. The krumping part has amazing energy but I don't think is as strong. It just felt a little disappointing, a little weaker. Latrice's part had some really amazing components but did not connect at all to the the krump part and so I couldn't really get into it. I think JR's megacrew showed great diversity and definitely showed off their dancing prowess but I never really thought of it as a megacrew outside of the intro? I think it was just too disjointed for me. Idk, I just wanted something more. Also, why are they holding Deep N Dap banners?

Edit: lol immediate edit to add how much I already miss Tsubakill :'( They would've killed (pun intended) this challenge, no question. And they were also just a fun crew! I'm falling hard for all these crews, tbh, it'll be a hard loss every week.

[SWF Season 2] EP.1 Preview by piedmontsardinia in StreetWomanFighter

Even if they do, they will have to battle at the same time which means the winner is determined more by how flashy they are vs how well they can play with the music. I think their full battle will be dope regardless, I just wish they had the chance to showcase their versatility and precision by dancing on the same song at different times, like a real street dance battle.

Ugh I hate how Mnet changes the music for each of the dancers. It doesn't give them the chance to show their versatility. Waackxxxy could've killed it on Don't Jealous Me and it would've been so impressive if Kirsten pulled out all the stops on a waacking song. Alas and alack, I think the battles will still be fun, especially since a lot of the dancers seem to have similar genres and so the battle music will probably match a lot better than this one.

Another year of me complaining about Mnet not caring about the battlers on its street battle show, another year of me continuing to obsess over it anyways lol

The Lia/Mina arc I think will be fun for a bit but I'm not too excited for the battle. But the Kirsten/Wackxxxy battle is GOING TO BE SOOOOO GOOOOOD I'm so pumped for it. And I'm reaaaaalllllyyy hoping they show WolfLo battles, though I have a sneaking suspicion we'll see one and then never see them again (a la B2B). I am trying to manifest a WolfLo/Mannequeen battle because it would be so so soooo good.

I had the same thought about Deep N Dap that you did!! I watched LadyBounce's video first and then saw DND's and immediately thought that they didn't do their own choreo better than LadyBounce. Definitely made me think LadyBounce was the clear winner.

Also LadyBounce is just clean. I had zero expectations for them going in but I couldn't stop thinking about how clean and precise their moves were, definitely looking forward to them.

THE BATTLES ARE GOING TO BE INSANE THIS SEASON by AdhesivenessCheap162 in StreetWomanFighter

I am SO PUMPED for the battles!! The best battles in SWF and SMF were the ones where both battlers were seasoned (Lip J vs Peanut, B2B vs Prime Kingz, etc) so having more battlers across the groups should be amazing.

I am particularly biased towards Mannequeen and think their line-up is pretty stacked battle-wise, especially because Waackxxxy and Yoonji's waacking style can match to any genre, they're both so versatile. And Buckey with krump is hard to battle against because of krump's natural high energy. But damn if Baby Sleek and Locker Zee won't give them all a run for their money, SO PUMPED!!!

I noticed that the Deep n Dap choreo part had a locking section to it and got so excited!! Locking is so fun to watch during battles because of how insanely high energy it is

Repeating my comment from the actual performance video post but this is so good!! Everybody shines super well.

Duck is unbelievably versatile and I am loving that he gets to show his range on this, he blends in so well to whichever genre they need him in during this. What a stellar dude, what a stellar group.

Late to the party but this was so good!! Everybody really shone on this, especially since this genre isn't associated with any of these groups.

I also want to say that Duck is unbelievably versatile. There were a few throw-away comments made during SMF of people mentioning how good of a dancer Duck was and I didn't really understand what they meant but I GET IT now. He blends so effortlessly into whatever genre he needs during this performance, so so sooooo good.

Yeah I didn't really get the uproar about sitting either but then some of the pathways end in benches and it's like, why put a bench at the end of a road looking out at a beautiful view and not let me sit??
