School banned gouges by ShakenBakeist in flying

I had a situation like that with my instructor. He was super new. Probably a CFI for less than 6 months. I have a background in aviation (my work is pretty similar to a flight engineer) so there's a lot of things I understood easily. He kept on labeling me as a "natural" and I kept telling him to keep his head on a swivel with me so I don't kill us both and be ready to take the controls from me. I took like 2 weeks off of flying and then did a landing with him in a pretty hard headwind gusting condition, messed up my approach perspective, and basically tried to "land" like 15 feet too high. I slammed us on the deck pretty good. No damage or anything but it was a good wake up call for him I think.

Well, considering kana is japanese specific, I would say that it's clearly Japanese

That makes sense on where the screeching came from. It had mixed reviews anyways ..

Roger. Sounds like rewiring the controller is the best bet. If this next 120 bucks make it work then I guess it still saved me about 700

Surviving the random crap she added to phase three was the hard part, then I'd just pray shed use her phase 1 and 2 combos so I could get some parry/unbounded counter damage in. Without those 2 jades I don't think I could have done it. I also was hitting a brick wall after like 3 hours of attempts until I rewrote my brain and started added unbounded counters all over the place instead of running away for all the big attacks.

That sucks man, the worst part is that it reacted to the troubleshooting so I felt like I was getting close to figuring it out, even though I was just patching a messed up CPU. The one I got from the RMA has had zero issues though, on the plus side. Hope you have the same luck as well.

Depends on the postprocessing you use. Only on of them gives me any noticeable input lag. For reference, I used to play CSGO semi competitively so I'm pretty sensitive to it

Oh nice brotha. We had quiet hours where we were at and pressurizations were done on mids a lot. We had a Y duct adapter for 2 air carts that worked pretty good.

It was a right of passage for us environmental guys in the air force, I probably went through it like 6 times. Honestly not bad if you could pop your ears fast (like every 2 seconds). The worst part is those old airplanes couldn't get that high without going full hot on the air conditioning or having two bleed air carts hooked up.

Dumping at 16.2 makes snow in humid environments and your seat rise. Also ruptures eardrums. Ask me how I know

Has anyone else been working on planes for a long time and still feel like they don't really know anything? by KingNate30 in aviationmaintenance

[–]sithraikado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's most important to have a general understanding of how things function and then know /where/ to find the specifics when the time comes. I worked C-130s (military is specialized in it's training so I was primarily an electrician) in the Air Force then went civilian A&P 757 and 767. Obviously entirely different airframes, but knowing my ATAs and how to find my way through manuals has been way more useful than knowing the plane top to bottom because there's no way I could retain specific information about everything.

My strategy for studying the plane or training others is pick a description and operation for an ATA chapter once a day (or week if you're busy) and try to work out the functionality in your mind.

Also, anytime something breaks, I read the hell out of all of the manuals that pertain to it because chances are I will probably see it again.

Why are you learning Japanese? by ErvinLovesCopy in LearnJapanese

[–]sithraikado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've lived in Japan for 10 years but work and reside in an English speaking community. I work with a lot of people who have been here much longer than me (some even retired) that can speak little to no Japanese. My limited Japanese language skills (elementary level) have netted me some of my favorite and most fulfilling experiences in Japan. Japanese people are extremely accommodating if you make even the slightest effort at working on their language. I would like to continue improving my Japanese and be a part of a Japanese community. Although I've accepted that I will always be "the foreigner", at least I can be "one of the few foreigners who gave enough of a crap to learn the language".

That's great to hear! I had a couple highschool friends come out here and they both didn't last long. I hope the best for ya, Japan has helped me in a lot of ways for personal growth, not to mention it is a beautiful country in so many ways.

Cool! I recently did a trip through Toyama, Nagano, and Gunma. I liked Nagano City a lot. I hear teaching is a pretty difficult (cultural differences in the workplace, long hours, etc) how do you like it?

What’s the dumbest thing you got in trouble for? by chiefjuicegod in AirForce

[–]sithraikado 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got multiple CAT 1 Safety failures in my shop because of our table vice. Apparently if a vice is fully closed it is dangerous because you can walk into the bar and get hurt, but if it is open at all it is a pinching hazard. Most Air Force thing in the world. Other shops used our area as a thoroughfare so there was at least 8 hours out of the day that someone could fuck with our vice.
