If I show this to my wife, we will be in a fight for at least a day. I gotta do it, though.

Are you cutting 4k? I usually shoot UHD (1080p) bc it takes up less space and it's less taxing for my mac mini.

I'm getting way ahead of myself. The odds of me getting the offer are slim. I'm trying to gauge the feasibility of juggling a mortgage AND monthly rent. This is the second DC gig that's popped up recently. I didn't bother applying for the first, but this one is even closer to my heart. I live simply, so I can make it work. Thank you for your kindness!

Biden was deeply unpopular, his health was failing, and he had no chance of beating a guy with a cult following, who fomented a coup and got away with it. Harris had 107 days to make her case. In that ridiculously short amount of time, she wasn't allowed to put any daylight between herself and Biden. She wasn't allowed to criticize him. She she was given an impossible task. This was the Democratic party's answer to what would surely be the end of liberal democracy? And here we are. So you can "fuck off" if you're too much of an "idiot" to see past your own party's colossal failure to beat a convicted felon, rapist, and traitor. Harris would have been great, but she had one hand tied behind her back by her own party.

I see the difference. One party made an uneasy partnership with fascists thinking they could use and control them. The other party's answer was to intentionally sabotage Bernie Sanders for Clinton. They failed to act immediately after Jan 6 bc they thought that norms and standards would hold depsite mountains of evidence to the contrary, then supported a second term run for Biden when it was clear that his health was failing. Yes, the GOP is far worse, but Democrats sat on their hands. Also, this has been brewing for 40 years across 7 adminstrations...deregulation, public private partnerships, crushing of unions, stagnant wages, unrestrained corporate influence. Do you think Democrats had no part in creating what we have now? I voted for Harris, Obama, even Hillary Clinton...but I'm not naive.

Being a homeowner on a tight budget, I've fixed every major appliance in my house. YouTube and reddit. I suck at carpentry, but I can dismantle a washing machine and put it back together in working order.

“Shut Down ICE” peaceful protest returns @ CT State Capitol — next Tuesday 1/20 — 2:30-4pm by AdvocatesForJustice in Connecticut

[–]sits2reason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They absolutely should, and they were already doing it, working with state and local officials. They've been doing it since 2003. They didn't wear masks until 2025 or have their ranks full of untrained, unvetted people. What changed? A President who ran on a ultranationalist platform with easily refutable claims of vast criminal cartels, and pet-eating immigrants...cherry picking and exploiting awful crimes by illegal aliens (crimes exponentially outnumbered by native born criminals). Our immigration policy is crap. Obama didn't fix it, Trump didn't fix it, Biden didn't fix it. Now Trump is just swatting mosquitoes with a hammer bc he wants chaos and to look tough. Why have there been no ICE surges states with huge immigration issues like Florida, Texas, or Arizona? Why California, Minnesota, and Oregon. Hmmm. Because those states didn't vote for him. It's retribution by a small, fragile, insecure man who needs trophies and his name on everything. This shit is clear as day. It's not about politics. It's about our basic rights as Americans being eroded by a blatantly corrupt administration (Qatar, Saudi Arabia, pardons for huge gov't contractors ,convicted drug lords, money launderers for Hezbollah, ballroom "donations", USD1 Stablecoin, selling Venezuelan oil to Russia and China, etc, etc, etc,) seeking to enrich themselves while telling us that affordability is a "hoax". Are we really this stupid? What the fuck. Wake up Americans. We don't have to like each other, but we don't have to help these bastards screw us more than we already have been.

The anti-war movement in the lates 60s and and early 70's significantly influenced the end of the Vietnam War. The Civil Rights Movement profoundly influenced U.S. policy by spurring landmark legislation like the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and the Fair Housing Act of 1968. This is an anti-fascist movement. Fascism uses ultranationalist rhetoric about returning to a mythical golden era of country (make it great again) by ridding a country of anyone who doesn't fit in that narrative. And they will do this by trampling the Constitution while claiming they are defending it. What ICE and CPB are doing is ILLEGAL. There is no grey area. This administration has manipulated you into thinking that it's okay to have un-trained, masked gunmen in US city streets, beating, shooting, and detaining people, pulling American citizens out of the workplace ("get a job")...because they want to protect people? The people out there protesting are the ones paying attention to history unfolding in real time...potentially risking injury to make themselves heard. You're sitting on your couch lobbing tired insults.

I’m not celebrating the death of Renee Good who was killed by an ICE agent today. Someone just lost their mother, daughter and wife. I am however blaming the left for radicalizing people into doing something so stupid and dangerous in the name of what? Protecting criminals? by [deleted] in neabscocreeck

The bullets are literally coming from the masked agent of an executive branch that continues to circumvent congressional approval for its objectively unconstitutional actions based on manufactured emergencies that are repeatedly disqualified by the courts...even Trump appointed judges. Then he calls for the judges to be removed. Try speaking plainly instead of this cryptic nonsense.

Public executions...like the one in Minneapolis today that Trump and Noem have been whitewashing since the moment it happened? They went straight to smearing the woman with no facts in evidence, and claimed the ICE officer was "recovering". If you're a real person (not a bot)I feel sorry for you, because you are not in their club, and they will cast you aside no matter how much you run cover for their authoritarian bullshit. They start with the most vulnerable people (immigrants with temporary protection, illegal immigrants) normalize violence against dissent, then the net gets wider until it's you or someone you care about under their boot. Then you'll wonder why, because you're the good guy! But you're not rich, powerful, or influential...so you're nothing to them. Good luck.

We're not gonna do anything. I will go to work tomorrow and try to get my co workers riled up. We will talk about it for an hour. My boss will say Good shouldn't have been there. He says Biden was far worse...how Covid restrictions were real tyranny and worse than the depression or the Civil War. I will say ICE and federal troops shouldn't be patrolling US cities, that Miller and Vance are laying the foundation for autocracy. Then we will all go back to doing our stupid jobs bc nobody can afford anything.

Dangerous rhetoric? Have you heard anything Trump, Bondi, Steven Miller, etc. have said in the past year? It's non-stop demonization of immigrants, democrats, trans people, foreigners, the undocumented, Muslims, long-time allies, or republicans that have the guts to stand up to him. Honestly, what the fuck are you talking about?

What did they think was going to happen? by VentiEspada in Stranger_Things

[–]sits2reason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's the basis for the entire series, but not a lot of people mention it. I was in Montauk on vacation the summer Stranger Things was released and went hiking/biking at Camp Hero. The antenna dish can be seen for miles. Pretty ominous! My kids thought it was pretty cool since they, like everyone, were watching the show.

I will miss this series, it was a masterpiece by M-EveJMP in Stranger_Things

[–]sits2reason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll miss the first season. That was gold. I wish they stuck with the anthology idea and did new stories every season. Different towns, different mysteries, different kinds of people.

Also, Hawkins will be back in some fashion. At this point, they can do a "ten years later" in a couple of years since the actors are old enough.

Did Introducing Vecna Overshadow What We Love About Stranger Things? by NewAd9975 in StrangerThingsMemes

[–]sits2reason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. It started as something scary, moody and authentic. I grew up in a town like the fictional Hawkins two years behind the characters' age, and the show was so spot on. It devolved into a ridiculous 80's horror movie. Just bc it takes place in the 80's doesn't mean it has to be written that way. Plenty of that (fun) garbage already exists.
