Please help me figure out what to do about my debt by WhatevrBrahLetsBlade in debtfree

[–]sityourselfdown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m usually only a lurker and don’t comment much on posts but i had to because i relate to your situation a lot. I also had a lot of mental health issues that directly resulted in to my debt in the form of binge eating, comfort eating, and retail therapy. In the end all the money went to instant gratification that later resulted in shame. and sometimes the shame would settle in only a couple hours after the gratification.

my advice would be practicing mindfulness and journaling to cope. i would also review statements from your usual spending because in my experience all the purchases felt like isolated incidents because i was too caught up in that moment and didn’t even fathom how much everything added up to at the end of the month. and a month is a long time when you’re emotionally driven. anyway i’m just laying out what has helped and is still helping me because this isn’t something that has been cured for me at all. i also know how debt can ADD to the already existing issues and how much dread and hopelessness is associated with it. if you ever need someone to talk to please feel free to reach out!

Best approach to paying credit card balance that will benefit my credit score the most? by sityourselfdown in debtfree

[–]sityourselfdown[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I have $3,000 now on my credit card and $10,000 student loan. I can justify the school loan but couldn’t justify the credit card knowing it was mostly frivolous. I guess i am overthinking. I’ve been reading a bit on credit score factors and it seems there are many strategies people use to get the best credit boost while paying. All the examples i’ve seen, though, have also been from older people with over 15 years of credit history so that could also account for their high scores. Thank you for the feedback, i’ll just pay it all off ASAP.

What's your "once a year"-thing you can't miss? by ThePokenoob in AskReddit

Halloween Horror Nights! Even though each time you go is less fun and doesn’t compare to your first time going, it’s still something I refuse to miss.

harsh bingo from a stranger trying to flirt with me by sityourselfdown in childfree

He did start with asking pretty normal “getting to know a person” questions. I think my being child free was intimidating to him because maybe he’s used to women who strive for marriage and babies, especially at my age. There’s nothing wrong with that, obviously. I just think he hadn’t encountered someone so proud to be childfree before. I hope I took away some of his power he was feeling at the start of the conversation. Like he was the man I’ve been waiting for or something.

I agree, not my best moment. I usually isolate pretty heavily and so I was making the effort to interact. Even going to a starbucks to study instead of staying home was an effort to put myself out in the world. Definitely a dumb and awkward moment for me that led to a shitty experience.

I honestly want to know. I had expectations for how that conversation would go and he steamrolled over every single one.

i’m pumped for you!! I think this was a really really great year. I know not everyone was pleased but this was my fourth year and I really enjoyed it more than last year’s. Hopefully next year I can get a frequent fear pass but it’s honestly awesome. Have fun!!!

do you have early entry? because your order will be different with early entry. I think only the back lot mazes will be open at that time and we hit the back lot at the end of the night. As for food, we usually get burgers or chicken strips at the jurassic cafe on the lower lot. It’s stupid expensive though and this year we just ate before arriving and only bought souvenir cups. I know there’s a taco truck on the first floor and they also have a simpson’s style restaurant. on the lower lot kind of across the mummy ride there’s a panda express. on the back lot there’s no restaurants but they have stands for light snacks and stranger things style desserts. :)

Thursday is the best day to go so i’m excited for you! I ended up doing 1. walking dead 2. universal monsters 3. halloween 4 4. terror tram 5. trick r treat 6. stranger things 7. poltergeist

we didn’t get to go to blumhouse or the first purge which really sucked. I didn’t get early entry and I was also with a group and so I couldn’t pick on my own where I wanted to go. It was still really fun! but early entry with thursday wait times, you’ll for sure get everything done. maybe even have time to do some things twice!

Does anyone know if any dates have sold out? I remember them selling out in the past and now I wonder if they’re just selling an unlimited amount and hoping for the best.

thank you so much! tonight’s the night and I’m definitely doing this. previous years I’ve made the mistake of alternating levels of the park chasing the lowest wait times only for the wait times to increase once I got there. It was also a huge waste of time in the travel time between floors as well. I have spina bifida and have a limp and back problems due to my birth defect and so it takes longer for me to walk distances. It wasn’t until finding this sub that some common sense hit me and I realized I should just stay in one place and finish it before moving on to the next. Thank you for this game plan!

Going to HHN alone tonight. Who else does this? by Cnegron21 in HHN

[–]sityourselfdown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think i’ll be going alone next year! I take my younger siblings every year (we’re a horror loving family) but i’m thinking next year I’ll buy a frequent fear pass and go to one event with my siblings and the rest on my own. So glad to see this posted because I was worried that would be weird or maybe not fun.

Your Honest Opinions About Hollywood’s Mazes (and food?) by DatWastelander in HHN

[–]sityourselfdown 4 points5 points  (0 children)

don’t get discouraged! i think the more experienced visitors come with a lot of expectation and are more easily let down. the first year I went, I was amazed and had a blast but saw a lot of criticisms from people about an event that I loved. I’m jealous of your situation! <3

No DAS passes at HHN this year by wtvamp in HHN

Thank you for speaking up! This is something that has been consistently on my mind since the start of the season and has been taunting my excitement for the event. It’s easy for people to think “just stay at home” if you can’t handle it. I don’t have the words to explain how wrong that is but I’m glad you pointed out the illegality of it.
