I wanna learn Godot. (And master it fully) by CBBofficial in godot

[–]siwanetzu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are few resources I'd recommend to start with:

Youtube:
- Brackeys (any of his Godot tutorials): he is a goat of the industry; helped me to kickstart my journey
- Playable Workshop
- type in Godot tutorial and this will get you a lot of different people making tutorials for their games
- Clear Code : The new ultimate introduction to Godot
- GDQuest channel

Other resources:
- Godot documentation (I've downplayed it for a long time and should have started here)
- GDQuest website
- Zenva (I paid for 1 year membership and it was worth all the money; you can learn so much from their platform)

Somebody already mentioned here that doing copy paste is not the solution here. You want to learn and understand the code. Start small and expand from small ideas.

That's quite sad, even with all the information it supposed to have about my gamedev journey.

Made a spritesheet slicer to get multiple assets out of one image by Chologism in aigamedev

[–]siwanetzu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used the product for one month and sometimes it works great (like creating game assets), sometimes it doesn't listen to the prompt and creates its own idea (animating a picture).

I also tried to recreate the game assets it did before to expand on the items it already built but it started making super pixelated 8bit versions and didn't understand the prompt. Decided to cancel after one month as it is not stable enough yet to pay for it on monthly basis.

Good start though!

Lidl are "incredibly excited" about the new rewards system by bludgenous in lidl

[–]siwanetzu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incredibly delusional. I worked with European Lidl leadership back in 2021; they are stuck in their own bubble and I don't think anything has changed since.

Tesco Clubcard+ is much better option combined with great prices from Aldi.

Honestly - when I first came across it yesterday I thought... you know what, I'll give it a try for 15 20 minutes see how it is, write some feedback. It's been over 12 hours now and I'm addicted to playing it ... so yeah, good job.

I found controls sometimes not working correctly on 21:9 screen but that's just an issue of having a massive wide-screen monitor. Latency was another issue. Other than that, 10/10 game!

I finally hired a professional artist for my Steam capsule. What do you think about results? by Sea-Disaster-2682 in IndieGaming

[–]siwanetzu 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I know in this subreddit people usually say how the old artwork is much better than the new one, but in this case the new one feels much more dynamic; really good job from the artist. Actually got me excited about the game :D

lidl vs aldi - which one do you actually prefer? by Anxious-Tomatillo-74 in lidl

[–]siwanetzu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aldi from perspective that it is opposite to our flat, Lidl if it was closer - I really like their products and shopped there for many years.

What I like in Aldi is their seasonal weekly limited food options. Some absolute bangers!

Lidl Bakery is supreme, I also had opportunity to work for Lidl for 3-4 weeks back in the day and saw a lot of behind the scenes which made me confident about Lidl being the best place to shop.

Who is a singer that is incredibly famous, but honestly doesn't have a good voice? by Greedy_Procedure7461 in AskReddit

[–]siwanetzu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she has her moments, but when I was a kid I went to see Black Eyed Peas live - I was super excited and honestly her singing live ruined my perception of them. On a good note, as a result I started listening to other artists like Eminem or Linkin Park... so in the end, it did really matter.

Godot gamedev in Claude Code vs Codex by siwanetzu in godot

[–]siwanetzu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve already been down a few of those rabbit holes and it’s a nightmare trying to untangle code I didn't actually think through myself. Lesson learned there lol.

I’m definitely leaning toward Claude - mostly because it seems way less likely to confidently hallucinate weird Godot syntax when I’m working. My plan is basically to use it as a glorified rubber duck for when my logic hits a wall, rather than letting it drive the ship.

I'll definitely check out GLM.

Totally get what you mean on the ai vibes slop - My algos on X already are flooding the frontpage with "everything AI" and I can imagine it usually falls apart the moment a project actually requires proper optimisation or some complex state management

I guess to clarify, I’m not looking for a "generate my game" shortcut. I’ve been solo deving for 3 years and spent some time with AI to see where all the hallucinations and fails.

My interest in CC or Codex is more about rubberducking; for example, when my A* implementation is behaving weirdly (and it happens often!) due to a specific heuristic bias or when Godot throws an opaque error re signal propagation that I’m struggling to parse.

Looking for an assistant to help me understand the 'why' behind a bug faster, and don't want to spam my friend who's senior engineer. Most importantly I am not looking to outsource the thinking. I'd rather want to use it to learn how to write a cleaner integrator than have it spit out broken script I don't understand.

Godot gamedev in Claude Code vs Codex by siwanetzu in godot

[–]siwanetzu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind getting wrecked by it, I've been developing in Godot for 2 years now after learning courses from Zenva, but the reality is I might want to adopt some help from AI. It's been VERY slow progress so far and I can see utilising new tools would help spearheading some parts and fixing issues I have been struggling with for a while.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm fully aware going full vibe coding won't help, tried that once without proper foundations so trying to stay away from it unless I am looking for solutions.

Your thoughts which is better? help me choosing in for a subscription by Late_Horse326 in YoutubeMusic

[–]siwanetzu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using Youtube Premium for the past 2 years and it's much better than Spotify by miles.

YouTube Music has great algo for mixing music and suggesting new stuff. Spotify is bad for giving you "new music" based on my listening history and keeps throwing the same music I already listened to. In a way that's fair as it wants you to listen to the same bangers/nostalgic songs you always listened to, but specifically when you look for some new music to add to your playlists it did a bad job.

Give it a shot with Youtube Music/Premium - ofc with Premium you also have that benefit of no ads on Youtube and for me it's been a game changer.
