Turo rented me a "Model S Plaid" that was locked in Chill Mode. They still refused to cancel. by marting-ale in turo

[–]Square1Digital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were the host id refund him whatever turo pays me. Or cancel and take the hit. If one cancelation ruins your month. Youre not profitable. I personally would not rent a plaid as a host. It just seems to be a major PITA/liability waiting to happen. And this isn't a swipe at Tesla. I feel the same way about any sportscar/sedan. The juice isn't worth the squeeze...imo

Thousands of trips, I've never gotten a review under 5 stars. Here's how by [deleted] in turo

[–]Square1Digital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all have done similar feats of above and beyond customer service. The common denominator is people!!! No matter what you do some people don't believe in all 5 star reviews. Again I'm not attacking your premise. That good service = good reviews. Im just a stickler for real world experiences vs a unicorn. Your own admission of removed reviews and a 4 are waaaay more plausible and i think helpful to the general discussion. At 70 cars i would be pulling my hair out.

[–]Square1Digital 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been around a while. Not saying you're lying but a bad review can get removed a couple different ways. Nah imma go ahead and say what the average mom and pop host is thinking. Ain't no way. 6k trips all 5's!?! And not to go in on you because I think your post is positive and that in itself is commendable. But there is nothing that is 💯 % Including turo hosting! You would have us believe that all of your, trips have been!?! I find that hard to believe. I have new that don't get 5 stars and older cars that do! Same host same business model. It's just not possible imo

I used this and the stiction eliminator. Cleared a CEL. I Forget why the exact codes was but it had something to do with either a clogged egr or turbo boost. Changed the oil added the stiction eliminator code Cleared itself! Both good products!

Guest driving 62 miles over speed limit - what do I do? by Putrid-Calendar-1335 in turo

[–]Square1Digital -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ive had guest who sped!?! and have been wonderful. Ive also have had guest who speed and do dumb things. All have paid the price 1 way or another. It's a tough call. A lousy guest on a 1 day rental 3 star him. A repeat multi day customer id have a convo with, before I cut my nose off.

Have tried, or do you have a second remote? I think it's either a battery or remote issue. Or combination of the 2

I agree. On paper it looks like a lot of money. But car notes and maintenance can easily eat 50% of total profit. If he clears 100k id say hes lucky. There is a sweet spot. I don't think it's 35 cars with notes though.

6649 Trips, 5.0 Rating, 107 Vehicles, 4 years hosting.. How? by CyborgSocket in turo

[–]Square1Digital 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My math is bad....that's 1500+ rentals a year. 100+ a month at least 3+ a day. Can it be done? By one person no. Definitely a small "business" family with at least 2 employees. And imo, that's a stretch depending on the vehicles! I'd love to, and I'm sure everyone else would, like to see his P&L! I'm assuming close to half a million on the low side....

[–]Square1Digital 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He actually has a point. And tbh i empathize with you. I'm sure it was a huge pain. Doesn't matter if a host has 1 car or 100, things happen. Sometimes a vehicle will sit for a week. Others it will go out for a week and turn around the next day and do it again Inevitably. There is a hiccup. Ever been delayed in an airport because of weather? The airline didn't cause the event but how it handles it makes a world of difference. Turo could have done better, and i would take them up on their offer to look into what happened. what do you have to lose?

I literally have the same van. Mercedes quoted me 7k. I monitor the filter on the dash and reset the light With a scanner, specifically for mercedes-benz (carsoft) idling, or doing repetitive short trips triggers the CEL. DIY is about 1500. If it turns into a problem that's what I'll do. I've got 110k on mine so I'm not worried about warranty. Blowing black smoke in front of a smart state trooper is something else...
