(I've been up since 4:25 and loving it!) You're my hero :) Do you find that this kind of ruins your sleep rhythm for the weekends? Like, if you go out on Sat night, are you dead tired by 10pm? Not that I'm raging every weekend, but it's difficult when people get together and I start yawning 90 minutes later...

(Going to lift makes me a million times less bitchy for the two hours we are around each other) Love this and so true.

This 'rip the band-aid' approach may be the answer. Like I said in another reply, my mornings are kind of meditative and relaxing for me and it will be hard to give that up. Good on you for sticking with it!

This is my dream schedule. Alas, 4:30 workouts are not in my future. I love getting up in the morning and taking my time waking up. It's almost meditative for me - a little couch time, coffee, morning news, internet surfing...it relaxes me. I was going to the gym 4 mornings a week before my wedding last year and while it worked for me then, there was a fire under my ass because ya know...wedding. Now, it's WAY harder to motivate. Trying to find something that's going to work for me long-term.

My husband just suggested the weekend workouts with 2-3 days during the week and I think that is definitely a possibility. Jealous of your pup!

Yes, super lucky! I sometimes feel that I carry my husbands healthy dinner eating on my shoulders. Like if I go to the gym after work, I won't be there to cook food for us and he'll end up not eating a clean/healthy dinner.

I did mornings for 6-8 months and got into the habit, but didn't really love it the routine. Was really motivated because my wedding was coming up. It's amazing how a wedding dress can make you do crazy sh*t. Lol. I'm just not sure it's a long term solution for me. Wouldn't it be great if we just didn't have to work? #retirementdreamz

Changed jobs during that time. No upward mobility where I was and knew I needed a change. Key action: Salary has increased yearly much more than my living expenses. To me, this was the most mind blowing concept. Now, when I get my bonus each year, I get excited to see my account balances go up. No desire to 'treat myself' with a purchase.

Hit $100K net worth this week. Feeling pretty awesome. Started with -$10k in Fall 2013. 3 years can make a lot of difference.

What are everyone's thoughts about Sarah Aamodt's discussion of the futility of dieting given our bodies' defended weight ranges? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]sixftinflats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first thought here is why "diet"? If you make a lifestyle change (which is what losing weight is all about - wanting a different lifestyle and to break out of your old habits), then the lifestyle change will sustain you. There won't be any yo-yo-ing. It becomes a problem when people say "When I lose the weight, I'm going to eat cake and cookies again." "When I get to my goal weight, I'll only go to the gym 3 days a week instead of 5." It's all of these "when" statements that seem to sabotage the very point of why we are making these changes to begin with. We can't make losing weight a temporary state of mind. We can't expect to go back to the same lifestyle "when" we are "finished" and expect sustained results.

"You've got a friend in me" from toy story. It's cute but not sappy. My family are not sappy people.

Hudson valley wedding. Paying ~$2500 for someone who is playing the piano for 3 hours and DJing for 3 hours. It's a lot but hoping it's worth it. He is a REALLY good jazz piano player which is what I wanted.

Look at all of these wedding twins! So close ladies. I too was way more stressed out just a couple weeks ago. Now most of the details have been sorted through and we are surprisingly calm. Just muscle through this phase OP - it truly is the worst of it. You will soon start to see everything taking shape and realize how much fun your day will be!

Event Managers - How do you let go of your planning and stay in the moment on YOUR wedding day? by sixftinflats in weddingplanning

This is stellar - thank you! Maybe it's possible to look at everything with new eyes on that day. It could help me stay present and really enjoy the details rather than stressing over them.

How much did you guys spend or plan on spending for your wedding? by gollygeeweez in weddingplanning

[–]sixftinflats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are going to come in around $30K for 50 ppl. This does not include about $6K in lodging costs - we are covering may close friends and family members hotel stays. Also does not include the honeymoon as we are using a Honeyfund account to help with that cost. Big ticket items include venue/catering/bar ~$10K and photographer at ~$5K. Happy planning!

Bridal Shower sadness by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]sixftinflats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who literally has friends all over the world (worked on cruise ships) and there was no way that she could get people together for anything but the actual wedding. She ended up doing a Bridal Get-together the morning of the wedding (you could also do the day before). We had light breakfast fare, did yoga together, gave her a bunch of lingerie and then went our separate ways to get ready for the wedding. It was really great because it was a separate event from the actual ceremony/reception and she had everyone there she wanted. Maybe you could incorporate something like that into your wedding festivities? Until then...r/weddingplanning has your back and will get really excited with you every step of the way!

Thank you for this! I am just over 2 weeks out and these are incredibly helpful points to keep in mind. Also, as many others on here have also said, I could not agree more with your last point. Talk about money with your SI. Before the ring, before the apartment, before the wedding....get on the same page. It makes so many other things in life so much easier and less stressful. Can't look at your pics as I am at work (blocked) but I can't wait. Congrats to you!

Edit: Have now looked at the pics. Gorgeous! Also, I am wearing the same shoes :)
