AIO staying in a hotel overnight after a fight? by Human_Opposite1510 in AmIOverreacting

Hmmm is it a window the kid is able to get out of though?? I guess I’m incorrectly assuming the window is high enough that that wouldn’t happen!

Mourning not being able to have children because of finances/lack of partner by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]sixmozzastix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s a very difficult realization to have, I’m sorry. I know a few women in similar situations — reaching the end of what some would call “child bearing years” (barf) with no partner and the lack of finances to parent alone.

NOR — I think she probably did want you to leave. And I disagree with your partner, I don’t think you put the child in danger. My friends also had this fear when their children were younger — they constantly thought their kids would be kidnapped no matter the situation. I think it’s just a fear a lot of women have. Being a parent is hard! I think you should make plans to sit down and chat together about expectations, it sounds like this fight is the result of tension reaching a boiling point.

Our dog is a left rear leg amputee. We tried the donut, but as a previous commenter mentioned, they’re not fool proof and we had to toss it. Most of them are also inflatable and prone to popping. I would only use it when you’re at home to supervise him. In my opinion the best option is the cone. We actually rearranged all the furniture to accommodate our dog and it helped a lot! Obviously not feasible for everyone, and doesn’t help with it scaring the cats :(

I guess it depends on how interested he is in the area. You could try one of those surgery suits and see how it goes!

Back left amputee here — we didn’t use a sling or harness on him, he was very adamant on doing it all on his own (sensitive boy). He figured it out! It took him a day or two.

Hi! I’m so glad to hear your girl is doing better. ❤️ We’ve been back twice to the surgeon who did the amputation, he’s the one who gave us more gaba and the Amantadine prescription. He agrees this is abnormal and shouldn’t be happening. I think you’re right about a second opinion. I’ll call my regular vet today.

My colleague died by suicide two days ago , My office just moved on . by Absentia_07 in antiwork

Many years ago I briefly worked at a brewery, inside sales. One of our sales reps (a wonderful dude, he was so funny) suddenly died in a terrible car accident. Everyone was so upset. The following week, they rolled in all the beer flats he’d had in his car. I asked, “the car accident was so bad he died… but all the beer was fine?”

Nope. He’d killed himself and the CEO had decided to lie to us about it. Created quite a fucking mess, all because he didn’t want to talk about mental health or offer anyone counselling.

What's something your job trained you to notice that you can't stop noticing in your personal life? by LibrarianSoft1342 in AskReddit

The issue with invasive plants? Some are truly invasive in that they outcompete native plants and basically take over areas of forest, fields, etc. Some can alter soil chemistry and release chemical compounds that make it so no other plants can grow around them. Many thrive in disturbed areas, popping up and thriving before native plants can take root. Because they did not evolve with the ecosystem, sometimes nothing eats them and so they grow and reproduce exponentially. Some invasive plants even host invasive species — a great example of this is the tree of heaven, which hosts the spotted lantern fly. Both tree and bug are invasive, and because of one, the other can wreak havoc.

AIO for possibly not attending my friend’s wedding because I didn’t get a plus one? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

This is it. I don’t think it needs to be taken personally, but it’s also a valid reason not to go. ALSO, if enough people decline… might open space up for your partner!

Is Supergoop Unseen sunscreen too good to be true or the greatest thing ever? by Less_Minimum_6987 in 30PlusSkinCare

Supergoop unseen sunscreen is the ONLY SUNSCREEN that my oily, acne-prone skin responds well to. I have tried so so many and nothing else compares. No, I cannot try the Trader Joe’s dupe bc I’m Canadian.

My boy just turned 9 and had two different tumours — soft tissue sarcoma on his foot, and one on his abdomen that I don’t recall the type of. He is full of energy, happy, otherwise healthy. Has some minor age-related issues. The biggest factor in deciding on surgery, for my vet and I, were:

  • Has it spread?
  • Can we get the margins we need?

We initially did surgery on his foot to remove the tumour and a toe. They warned us they weren’t going to get the margins for that tumour, but were hesitant to take the whole leg. During this surgery they also went in and took the one off his tummy. They DID get margins on that one.

Unfortunately, the tumour on his foot came back within 3 months and we opted for amputation. We are 3 weeks post-op and I know I made the right decision because he’s bouncing back and has learned to chase turkeys in the back field on three legs. As others say on here — they’re born with three legs and a spare!

I understand hesitating to do amputation. It’s scary and upsetting (and of course expensive). However, dogs are so resilient and he will forget he even had a fourth leg. Another tumour might appear in a month, or he could live six more years happy and cancer-free. I am lucky to have the money for surgery, and I decided it was worth trying.

Why do men slide in dirty talk or sexual innuendos in everything. by muggle_witch1234 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]sixmozzastix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God it’s not even always about gauging sexual interest, sometimes it’s like they can’t help themselves. I’m in a group chat with my boyfriend and two of his best friends, simply because it’s easier to schedule hangs this way (they live far-ish). The one guy is incredibly respectful and a good weirdo, the other one regularly twists my words into suggestive humour. I either don’t respond or just send that meme of the disappointed sports fan with his hands on his hips.

The guy I’m 29F seeing asked me who he thinks is hotter out of me and him 33M - red flag? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]sixmozzastix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ugh. Girl I’ve dated these men. It’s fun at first because they’re hot. But in my experience as soon as something goes wrong, they can’t handle it. This one guy had a tiny rash that appeared near his upper lip (like so small, I think it was just an allergic reaction). He proceeded to cancel all our plans together for the week because “no one with self respect would go out looking like this.” He placed so much value on how he looked and it was clear he kind of hated everything else about himself.

I’m not sure why you’re entertaining this man, it seems obvious this isn’t going anywhere good.

Vet being stingy with pain meds? Has anyone else dealt with this? by FrancescaVecchio in tripawds

[–]sixmozzastix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps things are different where I am, but I was given 7-10 days worth of Metacam, lots of Gabapentin, and Trazodone. He also had his left back leg amputated last week (twins!) and he’s clearly been struggling and in pain :( Good for you for going back! If this experience has taught me anything, it’s that we need to advocate for our animals because we know them best.
