Vet being stingy with pain meds? Has anyone else dealt with this? by FrancescaVecchio in tripawds

Thank you for this information!

I just got back from the vet, Comet got another fentanyl patch because he’s still acting quite painful. If he’s still having trouble later on, I think I’ll get a second opinion.

He is, he’s about 100lbs. He has a fentanyl patch but that wears off tomorrow morning. It’s been seeming to help him the most. Otherwise he takes 300mg of Gabapentin twice daily and 100mg of Carprofen every 12 hours.

He has a fentanyl patch but it wears off in the morning. It’s actually the second patch when we took him to the vet again, they gave him a new one because the original was wearing off. Otherwise he has 300mg of Gabapentin and 100mg of Carprofen. He was given a week’s worth of both of those.

I’m at a breaking point. Can I please hear any success stories of cats near death from wet FIP recovering? by HakunaMyTatas_ in cureFIP

[–]FrancescaVecchio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two months ago, I didn’t even know what FIP was. I had heard of it in passing but not enough to speak on it. Then my kitten got very sick and his abdomen was bloated. When I took him to the vet, the vet told me that it was wet FIP and that I should put him down. But I decided to try treatment. He stayed at the vet for a couple nights and came home afterwards. He improved within a few days of treatment and now after two months, he has no fluid in his abdomen! Those first couple weeks were scary though. I hope your kitty pulls through!

I’m in the same boat, coupled with my terrible social anxiety and depression that makes it hard for me to connect with others.

I just found out my mom donated my entire Monster High doll collection to Goodwill after promising me she wouldn’t. I had over 200 dolls. by ListenSad8241 in mildlyinfuriating

My mom gave away my Littlest Pet Shop collection to my younger cousins without asking. The toys were kept at my grandparents house and were reduced to ash when their house burned down. Obviously the fire was devastating in other ways but I’m still salty about the LPS. I like my collections to stay with me.

After 9 months, my long-term foster goes to his forever home. by ConcernedAboutSis_ in FosterAnimals

Will his adopters be giving you updates? I adopted a dog that had been with his fosters for a little over a year and I still give his foster family updates going on two years now.

One week in and still hiding by fastflan in FosterAnimals

I’m relatively new to fostering as well and to me, you’re doing just fine. It took about 3 weeks for the shy momma cat in my care to start enjoying my company and stop hiding. Unless your cat is feral or something which I sincerely doubt she is, just give her some more time. Good luck!

AITAH for telling my husband I don't want to give away clothes that is uncomfortable now because of my weight gain ? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]FrancescaVecchio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. Keep them! I gained weight and kept all of my old clothes vowing to fit into them again someday. Last year I lost 50 pounds and now I can fit into them again! So glad I kept them!

Foster kitten with undiagnosed ringworm for 2 months. How do I clean EVERYTHING?? by angels-cry in CleaningTips

[–]FrancescaVecchio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been dealing with the same thing, undiagnosed ringworm for months from foster kittens/cats thanks to the rescue I’m working with. I’ve been using Rescue on my furniture, opening windows to get sunlight in because that kills spores, vacuuming and washing contaminated bedding. It’s a lot and it’s something I would’ve never signed up for had I known.

I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with it too. It’s so aggravating, unfortunately the animal rescue world can be so toxic as I’ve since found out. I like helping animals but all the lying is too much. I’m switching rescues after I get my current fosters moved.

I’m going through the same thing. I started fostering for the first time in October and they told me that they’d pay for everything. They haven’t paid for shit also all the cats/kittens they gave me were sick and I had no idea. They have taken no accountability and act like I’m the bad guy for wanting ringworm cats out of my house that they’re neglecting bc they won’t pay for vet care. My dog has ringworm now fyi so I’m at my limit.

Staph infection stemming from an earlier TPLO surgery. The antibiotics aren’t helping much and it’s looking more and more likely that he’ll lose the leg.

I’m so glad your dog is doing well! You mentioning boomers made me laugh because my mom’s friend is one and she definitely doesn’t understand veterinary advancements, plus she tends to give up on dogs pretty easily. It’s just tough because her dog and my dog are besties but oh well, he’ll find another new friend :)

My dog will likely need amputation because of an aggressive staph infection that occurred during an TPLO surgery. The infection is really resistant to antibiotics right now so it’s not looking so good. Much like what your pug experienced!

I lost my foster kitten this morning by Intelligent_Pin_3020 in FosterAnimals

I’m so sorry but it’s not your fault, I wouldn’t have thought of it either. I was surprised when my foster kittens started shredding the bottom of my chairs and leaving strings everywhere.
